Topping for the first time..Have i done it right??

I have a 5 week old royal critical which have been under 250cfl, I topped it yesterday and was wondering if i've done it correctly? And how long untill it usually recovers? Thanks..

Good job! But actually your trim job is more a FIM than a topping. Looks like you left
a bit of the top bud when you cut. Removing the whole top bud is topping. Topping
usually grows back as 2 top colas. A successful FIM will result in 2-4 main colas. If
you get 4 top colas all about the same size you know that was a perfect FIM job.

Yes i would call that more of a FIM too, However im a fan of fimming more so than topping...4 is better than 2 :hump:

...Also as far as recovery goes i give a feeding with superthrive when i FIM or top and i hardly notice a slowdown in growth, with in 24-48 hours the lower branches jump out and the tops start growing... Good job and a bountiful harvest i hope for you

depending on the strain growth at the spot u topped it will happen quickly within a couple days and the lower branches will get bigger meanwhile. not all strains respond well to topping or fim'ing, its usually the ones with good branching that grow vigorously that benefit the most. Some will only grow two tops very close together after you top them, and the lower branches still dont do much. my og kush was like that. however my critical + was very easy to get mutliple branches. hope that helps. looks like yours is done just fine.
