Topping Help Please

Hello,

On my third grow and I am topping my plants this time around.. I have read a lot on the subject but can't seem to find anything that matches what I'm seeing with my plants..

I topped these 3 days ago, all the tops seem to be growing at same rate.. Aren't only the top two supposed to grow to form a 'Y'?.. Or am I supposed to remove all lower stuff including fan leaves to redirect all energy into top?..

Also from the pic I attached, are the two tops on either side supposed to be level with each other? As you can see mine has one top on one side then cm of stalk and then the top on other side? Is it just the strain?

Thank you

no offense but thats eather a wonky strain or u got a weird light set up but any how, dont remove the fan leafes let her grow like that for a month or so next time tho when u go into to top it cut the main stem/ side shoot/ branch, just higher than the node... tomorow il take some pics of my clones that i just topped for a better refrance man.. still i dig the effort in trying new thingsm:weed:

Looks like the strain you have there has an alternate branching phenotype (or mutation, idk?) which is why you're probably confused about the whole topping thing. Due to the nodes not being directly opposite from each other you aren't going to see that perfect Y but maybe eventually it'll grow into more like a lower case y.

I wouldn't removed any of the lower branches unless you don't like the whole alternating branch thing. Looks like the lowest nodes are opposite from each other so you could try to chop all the way down there but you'd be losing about 6 internodes and there's no promising that the growth out of the two new tops wouldn't become alternating anyway.

NO do not remove any more leaves. Yes ALL those growth will bounce back. I top once around the same size you do and super crop the rest of the way and thats how you grow trees.

Is this a clone from a mature plant? I struggled with topping on a clone I had that was taken from a flowering mother. Same alternating nodes. If you get a "regular plant from seed you will see how topping works. It's one of those things you have to experience for yourself.

Hey yea just the way the lights are set up.. cheers for the info

Ah ok, everything I read and looked at had a perfect Y that's why I was confused.. Cheers

I took these clones about a week before I switched my last run to 12/12, from the lower growth of that plant..

Thanks for the replies
