topping

Last year I didn't top my plants. I got a pretty good crop but the plants were tall and lanky. This year I plan to top my plants to increase their bushiness. I'm not clear when to do this and should I continue topping the lower branches as they move up.

Top them while they are short. This will make your plant spread out early. I usually top after 4 nodes.

i second what blunted1 said. top early, and you can top all the lower branches also if you want to..... it's a matter of personal preference.

Thanks, mine are at 4 nodes right now and growing like mad. Basically all I need to do is clip out the new pair of leaves at the top of the plant. There are no lower branches yet but as they start top them the same way. Am I correct.
