Trash can water tank

Well make sure it's empty (durr), and take a drill to it. Fill the hole with a bib and gromet/seal.

That was a gromet or a seal. Not a gromet seal.

If you buy a bib, like a hose bib I'm assuming you're talking about, it should come with directions. Drill the right size hole in the desired spot, put the bib through with a rubber washer on both sides, screw the nut on the inside part of the bib. Make sure it's tight!

Edit: Or, if the plastic is thick enough, you can just drill the right size hole and screw the bib in with some teflon tape. Whatever's clever~

howdy JBP not gonna help you much but bunnings sell them already done with wheels and all over here in hostralia...:-)
 
I use a 32 gallon trash can for a water tank, and I didn't drill any holes in it. I have a small sump pump in the bottom so I can mix fertilizer in it and water with the hose leading out. It works quite well.
 
I have a $50 sump pump in the bottom. When I plug the cord in, water starts flowing out of the pump's hose. I usually only run it back into the trash can to mix my ferts and aerate the water, but with a longer hose and a ball valve on the end of it it would work great.

Usually I dip a gallon jug into the full reservior and give a gallon to each plant a day.
 
You can put a timer on the power cord for the pump, and it will turn on and off whenever you want.
