Trichome questions.

There are a few questions I have that I haven't bothered to research so I'm just going to see what people's opinions are and go from there.

Is the production within the plant or on the surface of the plant? Does it make it a secretion if it comes from within the plant and if so does that mean THC is in the plant material itself? Why tear open a bud to check the trichomes, wouldn't the trichomes inside the bud be older by default?

The bracts have the densest covering of capitate-stalked resin glands of any plant part, and it is within the heads of these resin glands that the plant synthesizes and holds the highest concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes of any plant part. Bracts make up most of the substance and weight of high-quality marijuana buds.

These are the points to determine doneness of flower ( bud ) , pistils will show maturity as it “ ripens “ by a color change to orange , reddish or brown coloring. Calyx areas swell and add weight at later stages. Triches on other plant areas mature at a different rate and is not indicative of actual ripeness.

I looked up what a Bract was - a modified leaf or scale, typically small, with a flower or flower cluster in its axil. Bracts are sometimes larger and more brightly coloured than the true flower, as in poinsettia.

So then if it's just a modified leaf than trichomes on any of the leaves should be the same composition.
