Trichs Ready Yet?

First-time grower, but studying hard.

Long-story, short: Day 63 of flower and I have four plants (different strains - won't do it again) sharing the same res (DWC, RO water) and half are definitely ready for harvest with solid-white trichs, but the other half I'm not sure.

My grow tent will be my drying tent, so I don't really have (at least I don't think) much of an ability to do a partial harvest - the buds would have to sit in the lights with the remaining plants. I also want to flush for a couple days prior to harvest - and remember, they all share the same res. Result: I need to harvest all at the same time.

As above, half are good. Here are the trichs for the other half. Do you think these are too clear, or are they milky enough to cut-off nutes and flush for 2 days (hopefully let these get whiter), then harvest?

Thanks all

Yeah, thanks. So I'm basically asking peoples' opinion if these are half-clear/cloudy or if they are clear.

Your middle chart with the red X and three green checks/ticks says half-clear is good to harvest and gives a more "speedy" high, which is fine with me. I'm just on the fence about whether these are clear or half-clear/cloudy.

They look way to clear for me. I don’t know what your other plants look like, but most new growers try to harvest plants too early. Usually WEEKS too early.

Harvesting early gets you less yield, less flavor, less high.

Ive NEVER seen someone accidentally over ripen a plant.

It’s pretty much always better to let plants go longer then to harvest early. With the exception being if you have mold or a major pest issue.

Definitely will get better with more time. Has it even done the late frost yet? You know, where you had nice nugs and the next day you look and they are just way frostier?

They look mostly clear to me. Remember that if you move the scope/camera even a little during the photo, clear trichomes can look cloudy. Post a couple of photos of the whole plant so you can get more opinions. Trichomes are only part of the "is it done yet" question.

I agree with everyone. Mostly clear. I'd say 2 weeks.

@SheeshM Good suggestion. Where those bud photos at?

@razingthebar - now you see why multi strain grows are a pain eh! It's remarkable the variability in soil conditions and environment between strains.

Not the greatest pic.. but this is what your trichs are supposed to look like when they are just about ripe. At least 85-90% cloudy trichs. I’m pulling this weekend most likely since amber is starting to make a slight appearance.
Thanks, yeah one of my four plants has trichs like that, with 100% of pistils are bown and curled. Another has mostly cloudy trichs but the other two are like what I posted above.

So I dunno if this will help b/c the pics aren't that great. I have about 5 reasons I don't want to turn off my LED, and I don't have a filter for my phone to make the colors true up, so purple it is...

First two pics are the nug from which the above trichome pics were taken (with a digital microscope). The other two pics are zoomed out further and further, but also washed out more with purple light.

Thanks to the hive mind here, I'm taking your advice and letting them go a while longer.

OK, so in this one I have circled in blue which bud the pics came from. Supposed to be indica-dominant hybrid, but it's long and lanky like a sativa. The shorter, bushier ones with thick buds up the colas are the other strain that has the white trichs, etc.

They are looking good, the trichs from pic have nice long stalks. When i saw them i was wondering if it was sativa leaning those flowers should be flavorful! Good job!

I struggle with the trich color sometimes too. Another thing i look for is when the caps become full of thc and begin to fade the ball heads of the trichs start kind of falling down. The stalks of the trichs start to bend. The trich stalks begin to almost look like the stalks of the plant as they pack on bud weight, bending a little. In the last trich pic i saw they were pretty straight up indicating a little more time would be good on those few plants.

The plants look great! Enjoy!
