Trim or not to trim ?????

I have been in flowering for 3 weeks now and I have heard several different idea on whether to or not trim the fan leaves. One to help unblock the lights to the lower branches, the other is that the plant no longer needs the fans at this point.

Any help on this matter would be great.

dont trim...they still do need them toward end of flower, thats why they turn color toward the end the buds suck all the stored nutes outta the leaves....

The plant will ditch what it no longer needs when it no longer needs it as long as it is otherwise healthy.
Some people increase N so it will not turn the leaves yellow and drop them. IMO if you remove those leaves at this point you will
decrease your potential yield.

light decreases greatly at distances, so by removing the leaves on the top of the plant, all you're doing is making room for weaker light to get to the bottom of the plant, and removing the solar panels that get the most light, and therefore doing the most work for the plant..

so in summary, don't cut the leaves.. :)

A plant with no leaves is just silly.
get some side lighting.
Smoke on . .
Basic horticulture covers this.

Yep that's what I was thinking as well. I just heard a few things about it. Just wanted to get a few opinions on the matter.

Myths and rumours can flourish but simple facts are there with some research,

My leaves are also put to good use after harvest after being spat all over by my buds .

just one more opinion on this... i just found someone who is growing a strain that I've finished. They clipped many of their fan leaves for some odd reason. The plant grew some fat buds but from what I see there are barely any trichomes and he is just about to harvest. All i can say is that this strain is supposed to grow lots of trichs and the only conclusion for his issues is that removing the fan leaves makes it difficult to channel its energy to resin production, especially when it has to try to recover from so much damage of elaves being taken off. Let that system grow.. if you run these plants again maybe youll be able to position the screen to catch the stretch just right and get a SICK canopy of fat colas

these plants fan leafs create the sugars used to promote bud growth. cut off the sugar factories and you cut down bud production.
