Trimming machines vs trimming wands

I have been reading on automated trimming a lot, but can't seem to find anything on comparing trimming wands vs the machines unless I was typing the wrong thing into google. Seems as if the wands do less damage, but how efficient are they vs machines?

I was thinking of getting the one jj uses or the trimming wand by "ez trimmer" jjs trimmer = $450 ( http://m.ebay.com/itm/350690101245?_mwBanner=1 ) youtube video =
ez trimmer = $1,350 ( http://growershouse.com/eztrim-wand-trimmer )
any help is greatly appreciated.

Having used a kermith in the past was ok but the hoover is noisy as that sucks the trim into the hoover..Still had to tidy up the buds with scissors a little..Also used trimpro and this destroys the trics on the outer buds..
Now i use a bonzai hero and like it more than the others,it can bite though.lol

I use a spin pro trimmer 18". absolutely fantastic. im about to order a 2nd one to help speed up my harvesting. It used to take me 28hrs by myself to fully chop down/cut/trim/put in nets. ive cut that almost in half. now I have a patient/helper which cuts it down to 8hrs. this trimmer does NOT like big ass colas tho. I just snip them down to manageable pieces, but still big nuggets. when im doing my trimmer clean-out, I usually end up with about 2-3 grams of oil (153 proof diesel alcohol), which I then use in my edibles.

plus the people who run my trim (shatter) ABSOLUTELY love my trimmings.

the downfall of a trimmer, it knocks down a lot of the trichs from the bud. my patients and myself are still happy with the quality of the buds in the end.

I left my first caregiver because they went with an auto trimmer. Bud quality went from a+ to subpar. Now as a grower I would never use any machine trimmer. Medicine should be hung dry/ proper cure. But that doesn't help your question. Sorry:(. IMO bite the bullet. Do it by hand.

I'm curious about this one: http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Cut-M-9000S-M-9000SBK-Hydroponic/dp/B00L7BNXF0

I was just reminded by my little 2 plant harvest how horrible trimming is. My hands went numb 5 times and I was tempted to jab the scissors into my temple. With the real harvest being way larger I fear for my life, lol. I'm curious how much they will get through before needing to be cleaned, especially with good and sticky buds.

I'm curious about wands too, but I imagine they will need cleaning frequently, like scissors?

The bowel type trimmers bash the buds up.. The bonzai hero is like scissors if your careful they do not wreck the produce..and the scissor hash off them is sublime.

The Clean Cut ones seem to be blowing the other bowl type ones out of the water based on the reviews. I found a 16" version with awesome reviews too: www.amazon.com/The-Clean-Cut-M-6000SGN-Hydroponics/dp/B009O39YM4

I can't find any reference to them on RIU or icemag or any of the other forums though. Looks like they came out in August, I'm surprised I can't find anything, wondering if I can trust the amazon reviews or potential fakes?

What's the deal on the hand trimmers anyway, doesn't it get all gummed up?

With the electric hero I clean when I have done a plant.. It's same as scissors really maybe funks up a little quicker but the time they save us worth the hash you gain .

Lol! I just wish my harvests were big enough to join in this discussion!

But for what's it worth, from my experience of working in automation parts supply, just putting a plant through spinning blades is bound to be shit - u'd need something with actuators to line up & move the bud accurately, taking commands from a PID drive connected to some sort of optical camera(s). And you're probably talking minimum $5K for a bespoke build of that!

Though I guess that probably isn't a very helpful contribution!

There is a video on youtube that makes you sign up for a subscription with 14 day free trial... That had a video showing nugs in nugs out on one of the ones I'm looking at. Looked like it rolled it gently enough and cut all the scraggely stuff, but left a bit of trim work to be done. If it does 80% and leaves 20% to be done by hand without being to rough on the buds, I can handle 20% of the scissor work without killing myself, make that 10% with a buddy helping.

Please take a minute to look at the reviews in the amazon links I posted, and take a look at the videos available on youtube. I think these ones may do better than you think.

heres 3 pics of nuggets from my trimming machine. now tell my my nugs look beat to shit. all my patients and a dispensary that pickes up some overages all LOVE my trimmed nuggets. og ghost, strawberry cream, and gorilla glue. you do need to do a bit of sugar and fan leaf maintenance before putting them thru the machine. other than that, 10-12 rotations of the handle, and viola, awesome looking nugs. at least mine come out this way each and every time.

What model trimmer are you using?

Nevermind, I scrolled up and found my answer.

spin pro 18" 299.99 at my local hydro store. comes with 2x wire "knives", 1x solid knife. I only use the wire knives, as they trim much cleaner. and I always clean the wire knives after 2 plants. my plants are huge 6' 4-5 zip monsters and will gum up the wires quickly if I don't clean them often. a little 91% iso on a rag does the trick.

Fresh, every video I've seen has been fresh and dry sounds disastrous.
Yes! That's what I think to. Think about the decarb process and all the organic chemistry going on while properly hang and cured!? Let alone the tarpeins. It would take 100lbs before I would even entertain the idea of using one.

I'm confused, what are you saying is lost? I'm planning on curing the already trimmed buds on a rack in a chamber with RH controller/fan. Do you think there is something substantial in the stems that dries into the buds or something?
