trump’s big announcement today

trump will never spend a day in jail. It doesn't matter how much anyone wants that to happen. It won't.
You are right in that it would be impossible to for the SS to protect a former president inside a prison, (sarcasm with opposite meaning) it's not as if Trump hasn't openly committed crimes that put others away. The only question is a matter of location. Where does Trump servs his sentence? Trump will be found guilty of one or more civil or criminal offenses. All that remains is how much does he pay and under what conditions.

I'd just throw him in the oubliette

If they do incarcerate him, it will be under house arrest somewhere secluded, and his SS "escort" will act as his jailers, is what i would suppose. limited, monitored phone service, no twitter or truth social access, no way to incite his hardcore militia nutbars, no way to get in the press.

That sounds more like being grounded than a prison sentence.

That Heidi lady that Polis crushed also did the plane stuff, just an ad with her name. Much like having semi's with unsecured loads that spray everyone behind them with debris with your name plastered on the back, her plane ads also backfired/were useless, you couldn't read the banner, her name wasn't big enough for how high the plane was.

The federal supermax fits the requirements, or will eventually, it would also dramatically lower SS costs and is secure from domestic terrorism threats. His fans can try to roll open the gates of the supermax in a hail of machinegun fire to try and resurrect Cheeto Jesus. It can't be house arrest, but must be in a secure location, staff safety is a consideration with Donald's large terrorist and lunatic following, everybody involved in his prosecution will get death threats, which are terrorist acts.

Even if trump were indicted it would likely be years before a trial would even start and during that time he'd be out walking the streets. Then an actual trial would likely take at least a year and likely longer. Then if he was convicted he'd appeal and that process would take years during which time he'd be walking the streets.

trumps team will try and get every piece of evidence excluded. They'll file appeal after appeal all the way to the Supreme Court. The process before even going to trial will be extremely time consuming and drawn out for as long as possible. We're talking years and years the way the US court system operates. This is the United States of America not Russia or some podunk country where a court proceeding is just a rubber stamp and the outcome has already been determined.

His entire pyramid scheme of graft depends on a steady influx of money. I think we will be treated to a three-stage humiliation:

1) his newsworthiness implodes as the world chants Loser
2) his finances proceed to the “friendly visit by the guys with pipe wrenches” stage
3) the avalanche of court woes starts its slide.

Much of this could happen in plain view before the new legislative class even starts session!

I heard the congressman (ran the DNCC) from NY (can't remember his name) say something that had some pretty interesting perspective. they asked something like are you bummed you lost, and he blew it off saying something like 'You have to remember we started this congressional session on day one with people breaking into the Capital building, and we have had 2 years of very real progress, so even though I lost, I am so thankful to have gotten so much done after such a shit start.

No. I wanna see him in court, on the short end of the stick for once.
F'n eh! Death is too good for that mofo. Some jail time with the ensuing humiliation will be the worst form of torture for that d-bag and he, if anyone, deserves to suffer.

Not that a little waterboarding wouldn't give us all some satisfaction. Wasn't it the repubs that ruled that waterboarding wasn't really torture?

Even better just lock him up and feed him nothing but vegan food! :D

yeah um no on the torture. I’ve maintained from the start that he should get the standard judicial and penal treatment, no more and no less. The one excess daydream I permit myself is wanting him in solitary and incommunicado.
