uhh durr

Hey. So I know my plant will get root bound close to when I switch to flowering. Not a big problem, I'll cut the bucket bottom and sit it in another bucket of soil. But then I got to thinking...is it possible to use a small 2" tall 24" long 12" wide rubbermaid with an airstone and water? Just add a few more bigger drain holes to my original container, set it into the rubbermaid lid and let the roots go. Only downside I can think of is different nutes needed for the soil and then water....and then there is the possibilities of the soil nutes leaching into the water below. Am I on some sort of a roll here or just hitting a brick wall? Thanks everyone

hey thats cool info man. So back to my question if anyone can help me out here. Oh and I cant plant in a bigger container cause I've got her tied down.

sounds like you are looking to switch from a soil grow to a hydro grow? where is the plant? inside or outside? if you can cut the bottom and get another bucket with soil under it that would be my advice, i dont know much about hydro but im thinking it will shock the hell out of the plant.

personally i would just put it into flower and think ahead as far as container space for next grow.

oh and to Jesus of cannabis, i used miracle grow for my last grow and it worked fine, NPK is NPK unless your going organic then it really dosent matter how you deliver it. in my opinion <--disclaimer so i dont get some huge debate over this cuz i really dont care, MG is cheap and worked FOR ME <---

No this wouldn't work, you would have soil on top and mud on bottom, would just be a nightmare.

if you do the double bucket thing be careful! i tried it once. i'm always high when i work with the plants, of course, and when i'd go to move or rotate the pots, for at least a couple of pots, i'd only lift or rotate the top one which would rip the roots that were joining it to the lower bucket. i cringed when i'd feel the roots being torn!

i could stop getting high before working on the plants, but that would be retarded!

Thanks man that's the answer I was expecting. I'll just save up for a hydro setup next year.

As for watering with two buckets...I just lift the bottom lid to water bottom soil after the top soil/bucket is watered. Should be fine.
