using rockwool 1st time...help please....size??

hey all. im using a dwc stealth hydro bucket 5 gal for big plants for the first time. the cubes i got with it are like 2 inches by 2 inches . what happens when the plant gets bigger do you switch size or just toss the 2 by 2 in there.......am i gonna need a biger cube for a big plant? why didn they give me 2 by 2s. thanks rep for good advise . thanks

Did you get a net pot with your system?

I put the cube into a net pot with hydroton, the roots will grow thru the cube and hydroton into the water.

i got the bucket, a spout to let out the water , net pot, cubes, air pump and round stone bubbles come from. now that stone creates o2 right? the thing that worries me is that the cube is only 2 inches by 2 so im wooriied that that cube wont be able to grow a large plant. was i supposed to get a 5 or 6 inch cube or is the small one fine due to the roots growing into the water. so the 5 gal bucket actually holds the roots?

I always get my clone in a 2" cube and when I get home I immediately transfer them into a 6" one. I then let it veg in that under t5 lights until the roots statr to come out the bottom of the cube, usually when the plant is about 18" tall. thats when I transfer them in to a bucket filled with hydroton this seems to work well for me

when you put the cube into the hydrotrons, does the cube have to be way down where the water is? or will it work just an inch or so down. the net pot fits a 5 gal bucket so theres a ton of hydro rocks in there. in comparison to the cube anyway?

You will want the rockwool cube high in the pot - the roots will grow thru cube into the hydroton in your pot, and then down into the bucket.
My cubes never touch water once the clones have rooted.

so its the vapors of the water so to say that makes the tap root grow down to get to water? or the tap root would keep going down regardless till it finds water?

The bubbles in the bucket will splash on the bottom of your net-pot and the roots will grow to reach the moist hydroton.

You may have to hand water once or twice if your plant starts to droop prior to the roots reaching the water - then you are set.

i put the plant into the hydrotron rocks. right at the top. first time i did it i had already added nutes to the bucket , then i realized it woould kill the seedling, so i emptied it out and put just plain water i had sitting in a 5 gal . i pumped o2 through the water for 3 days before i put it into the bucket.....the plant deffinitly doesnt need nutes for a couple weeks. right?

You got it brother - you will freak out at how fast they grow in DWC.
