UVA to Increase Potency?

Found this from the Black Dog site;
"From our own research grows, Black Dog LED has demonstrated that UVA light alone can increase THC and CBD production in Cannabis plants. The combination of UVA and UVB light (from a standard "reptile bulb" fluorescent light) also increases THC and CBD production, but the inclusion of UVB in the light has noticeable detrimental effects on plant growth compared to only UVA.

This is why we've engineered the Black Dog LED Phyto-Genesis Spectrum™ to only include UVA light, without any UVB wavelengths. The UVA still increases production of secondary metabolites such as THC, CBD, terpenes and flavonoids but without the negative effects of UVB light."

That certainly sounds good, because CFL blacklights produce huge amounts of UVA and little UVB. I would really rather not mess around with UVB lights if I can avoid it, due to it's damaging properties. Gonna try a couple 13w ones in a small cab and see if I notice any improvement. As it is, growing under white LED is not producing the potency I would like.

Yeah advanced nutrients has found there special blend of watcha hoozy increases yield and potency too. I find whenever one is trying to sell me something it's always better than the thing I have

Id be weary
Itd be cool to see side by side of flowering times structure etc. Involving cry genes etc

They dont work the same, uvr8 specifically increases certain precursors that can increase terp content. Uva could help im not sure or through what pathways

If this is the route youtake ie not.just growing weed but a more sciency approach or optimizing. an increase in blue light could aid photolyase activation. I would definitely use in conjunction

You should try and see how it goes

What he said. I don't ever want to discount anything cause shits getting better all the time but I'm always aware someone is trying to sell me something

In a graph of chlorophyl light usage it shows that they actually use light below 400 nm, so even if potency is not increased they should get some use from the light for photosynthesis. BTW, I also got a couple incandescent blacklight bulbs, not for UV but for far red for 15 minutes at lights out. Their spectrum is almost all far red.

Apparently light below 400 nm has biological effects but photosynthesis is only 400-700 nm. It's still being used right down to about 300 nm, just not all of it for photosynthesis.

Now I can report that the blacklights do seem to make a noticeable difference in potency. I only put them in 24 hours ago and I tried a top bud that was too tall anyway, at 7 wks, and it was more potent than ever and no apparent ill effects to the plants. All I used was 10% of the wattage of the main light, or 5w /sq ft. You don't even need a reptile light. The difference is dramatic, unless this weed started getting a lot better by itself.
