I run a HLG qb 620+ watt diy kit. I've seen some talk about adding uvb to increase potency with LEDs. I have just a couple questions..

Is this proven to work?

Can you recommend a fixture and bulb?

Would this be effective use of cash?

Thanks for any help :)

Yes UV rays have been proven to increase THC and CBD levels. A proper UVA setup will produce more weight in resin, I don`t know of any add on lights that would help.

From our own research grows, Black Dog LED has demonstrated that UVA light alone can increase THC and CBD production in Cannabis plants. The combination of UVA and UVB light (from a standard "reptile bulb" fluorescent light) also increases THC and CBD production, but the inclusion of UVB in the light has noticeable detrimental effects on plant growth compared to only UVA.

This is why we've engineered the Black Dog LED Phyto-Genesis Spectrum™ to only include UVA light, without any UVB wavelengths. The UVA still increases production of secondary metabolites such as THC, CBD, terpenes and flavonoids but without the negative effects of UVB light.

it was "proven" in one study many years ago with a small sample size. something like buds without uv had 20% thc and with uv had 30%. look up john lydon UVB cannabis study
its also been theorized about and the idea has more or less some solid science behind it. there are long threads about it.

its inexpensive to set up so i would recommend just trying it for yourself. in my opinion, yes it is worth it.

this is what i use. reptile bulbs put out a bit of UVB so you run them 2-6 hours per day.
you can also get more intense pure UV bulbs that you only run 15 mins or so per day.
