thank you.
sometimes people just like to impose their will regardless of what the op is about. im talking long term storage options and preservation of terpenes. ive done some research about diff ways of storage and how vacuum actuallys helps terpene levels increase so just trying it out to see. no need for personal views on whether someone does or doesnt do it or if i need to or not. i have pounds of weed in jars and bags and buckets. im trying something out.
You originally asked 4 questions......"Thoughts?.....good idea bad idea? And are you too stoned......Your issue was squished weed. You ask for thoughts but only want ones you want to hear?

The one he posted here:
Very interesting, that vacuum goes way south but comes out on top.

lol
ya i suppose you could take that a few ways
let me be more clear
thoughts on whether this method works? will the jar break? hence the good or bad idea
my issue.isnt squished weed it was that i dont want people to tell me to put it in a bag im looking (again) to vac seal at full vacuum in a jar and am seeing if anyone has done this before the way i have outlined specifically not in a bag.
just baked and chattin really. and i find it to be an interesting topic. its all good i dont really care if you wana troll me man i got so much weed to smoke dat shit dont bother me. im looking for actual intellectual conversation instead of some bs back and forth dont vac it/vac it convo.
thanks for your input tho.

Not trolling you......it sounded like you wanted to go the vacuum jar route because your vacuum bagging was squishing the herb.

On that note.......
@curious2garden
How did you vac your jars?

@cannabineer
How did you keep it under argon?

cool to introduce the idea of inert gases to preserve weed. That is really a neat idea , very interesting

I think the op was talking about putting the jarred weed under a vacuum in a jar, which these things seem to do? With the proper vac sealer

I don't know what effect it has on storage or anything on that matter. I wonder if a digital microscope would help find out

Pound of bud(tops), cured for 4 weeks, mason jar, tape rd the top then vacuum sealed. Will crack open in 3-6 months I’ve used Mason jars all different types and I can still smell which seeps through the jars. I wouldn’t go back to just leaving it in jars without vacuum packing. Only do this with the tops though.

Holy shit this is dumb as hell.

Once your buds are cured up the way you want just fill a mason jar up to the shoulder. Then use a 2x2" square of paper towel lit on fire and twist the lid on tight. It will burn until all the O2 is gone then die with no stinky smoke smell or taste.

This is 50 yo tech and works fine.

Or buy a canister of N2 and flood the storage container like they do with potato chips. Crispy and tasty years later! :)

My point was air still gets into mason jars no matter how well sealed, so yeah the O2 is gone your way but O2 can still get into sealed mason jars and degrade over months. . My way seems a bit less ball ache and it works, tried and tested.

I'm still thinking on this ;)

Once you placed the jar (with a loose lid) in a vacuum chamber and drew vacuum, I'm not sure if you could get to the lid to tighten it before air rushed back into the jar. But, theoretically the vacuum in the jar would seal the lid somewhat.

A bit out of left field but perhaps something like this would be adequate ?
