Variable rate power?

Why would anyone actually sign up for a utility with this type of payment structure? I've been hearing about people receiving bills in the $1000's which seems criminal. My power bill currently runs about $70 per month in comparison.

I live where rates are stable, but I run an indoor grow that eats up to 3000 watts when the flower lights are on. Someone growing pot in Texas with the same power requirements would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in power costs, if they were "lucky" enough to have power for the week that ruined their financial lives!

see the Mad Max truck in the background? they want to eat the kid and a father's journey to keep him safe..good movie if you haven't seen it.

Classic example of why a person should always read the fine print when signing a contract..

People do a lot of things that make me shake my head in wonder. But still, a con requires there be a crook on the other side of the deal. I blame the crooks.

Same reason why people would get a mortgage that had a variable rate, they were sold it.

I do think it is interesting that this will hit the wealthier people first and by the most. They are the only ones who would have had the money in their bank accounts to have this amount of money available to pay $10k+.

And thinking about it, might be that they were most likely to have had their power/gas/water all installed better insulated too.

Why did they sign up for it though is because if you have about $70 bill in power a month and were told you could get it for $20 a month at current rates would you take it?

proof that one day the wealthy will be the only to survive.

they signed up for it because they are cheap greedy mothers..that's why..they also have the option of not using their power when it's costly, Hanimmal.

i don't feel sorry for them one iota..i knew the state i was in and beat feet..think i made the right choice?

this way when trumpy asks for 11,780 votes sycophant desantis can come up with them (i know wrong state but he's doing this for Diaperina..maybe that's why he smells so bad..they don't change the diaper enough?)

it's the same as a variable rate mortgage..would you do a variable rate mortgage?..right now it wouldn't matter but in the 90s? holy shit so many lost their home. because of variables..getting people into homes they couldn't afford.

Same reason people sign variable rate mortgages: they never think a hike will happen to them.

I'm a little disappointed that you're blaming what is going in the electrical power scene as being "free market". It isn't a free market, it's a regulated market.

If there were a free market and not a government intrusive regulated market in electrical power generation, it's likely the cost to the consumer would be lower, there would be more consumer options and more decentralized power, literally in both senses of the word "power".

Apocalyptic movies are popular these days. I suggest arming yourself heavily and learning some good long pig recipes.

Caveat emptor. Let the market decide. Profit by any means necessary. Beautiful capitalism.
