Vertical 600 watt hid grow with no tent

Ive been doing a lot of thinking about how I'm going to have my setup and i realized that ill save a lot of money if I just hang an hps light vertically around a group of six plants or so in a room that I use for storage. I've read a couple threads of people doing this and thought it sounded good. I have good central heat and air so if I just keep a good oscillating fan on the plants that should take care of the heat right? I know to block the window and bottom of the door so no light gets in.

CPP,
If you don't mind plant smell in your house...you could do it. In my youth I did several little closet grows like that. You'll probably need to keep door cracked during lights on to prevent heat build-up.

How are you with tools? I used to make all my own reflectors using sheet metal, tin snips pop rivets and white paint.

The thing with vertical grows is that the bulb heat can burn plants. Properly done the bulb would be inside a glass tube with a fan drawing heat up and away.

I was actually thinking of downsizing to a 400 watt instead and I have a small fan that i can put directly below the light pointing up at it to help disperse the heat. I plan on putting some kind of shield between the ballast and plants and keeping the ballast as far away as possible. I plan on buying an ipower ballast and apollo bulbs. Im really just trying to keep it cheap and get the most bang for my buck.
