I have very weird problem at the end of this season harvest...I have huge plants, with very solid, stone like buds and got bad yields.First, there was bunch of autos northern lights, looked very nice, had a lot of sun...After i harvested them i measured 19 pitty grams on one of them....After that,i harvested multitopped medium size super skunk, that had bunch of colas, and flowered for 45 days(reccomended). Bank information was that yield per meter square outdoor is about 500 grams and flowering is 45 days long.Buds were very solid, orange, but just when i harvested they lost their compactness, and became leafy.Just by looking her,i assumed that i will get at least 300,and i got 80 grams...Dried them ten days in their own room with a lot of airflow, and darkened as much as possible(pretty dark).Got pitty 80 grams...They were all taken care of and feeded regulary. Ok,he was bad positioned, not much sun, shaded, but he grew and got many colas and just gave 80 grams.Weird.Weirdest thing is,autos were getting light all day, still got leafy....So,what is the problem? My first assumption, they are all indoor strains,i grew them outdoor.Or...
Didn't dry them properly? One experienced guy told me something about drying whole plant.
Didn't feed them enough?
Same experienced guy said for this pity skunk, that he never smoked better shit, not even in Amsterdam.
Ok,they failed, low yields.I took one very expensive seed,28 euro piece, 90 percent sativa with 24 percent thc, expert haze i think. She was kept indoors and topped, trained, supercropped and everything. from march to late july, when she was transfered outdoor(she is outdoor strain)....She exploded, and kept on growing, than flowering, and she is four times bigger than superskunk, and trained perfectly in shape of star, and every cola(there is 32 i think much less, with maybe ten main colas....When i look at her,i said to myself, this is one kilo plant.
Cut out smallest cola....
Guess what, they are leafy drying. So guys, help me,im feeling pretty anxious, because i have kicked my ass from work, and i got nothing, how to get that perfect, solid buds? They are perfect now, main cola have flower size of rugby ball.I hope i wont get 200 grams.
I have also sativa 1,3 meters big monster.Huge colas. Those two only left...Any advice is appreciated.I never learned this drying shit, because there are to many different ways, not one working for me.
Every plant-Potground h,coco coir, and god knows what else...100 liters holes...

First of all that's the difference between outdoor and indoor. You see big colas outdoor but these are mostly leaves while indoor if everything is dialed in, it's mostly buds.

Having said that, your harvest seems to be on the average expectation. The wet to dry ratio is basically anywhere from 65%-75% loss of weight.

So from your estimated of 300g wet and getting an 80g dry that's right about 70% weight lost .

Your only problem is you went into this with entirely the wrong expectations. If you notice on a lot of strains information breeders are saying like 500-800g m^2 however if you look at grow journals barely anyone is getting numbers like that from a single plant because you need to be growing tree's to get there and especially if you're growing auto's the number isn't going to be anywhere close. These numbers are like the maximum potential if you cram as many plants as possible into 1m^2 they're just random weights that you might be able to achieve in that amount of space, it's not the expected weight

If you want big dense buds it's mostly down to genetics and then how you look after them, a low yielding strain that has naturally airy buds is never going to be a huge yielder with rock hard nugs. I recommend looking at peoples grow journals for strains you want to grow rather than just looking on seed banks for strains that sound the best on paper because every page will just be the breeder talking up how good the plant is when 90% of strains sold are plain average

Also don't harvest on breeders recommendations, wait until the plant is visibly ready. Their listed times are usually 2 weeks off since 9 times out of 10 they're just listing the fastest possible time on the perfect phenotype

outdoor stealth grows that are not tended to would average 1/4 pound per plant and that's been the average for the last 40 years for me. If I could tend to the plant on a daily basis I'm sure I could push more but yup pretty much a 1/4 pound per.

Ummm that's not really true re the all leaves. Same as indoor the bud structure is mostly based on strain. The one I posted was an all leaf pheno of 3 different ones, the other two were all bud. It also depends on how long they stay in ground. Outdoor plants are not all leaf just as some indoor is fluffy

But side by side, same strain....flower ratio to leaves is higher indoor than that of outdoor grow. But the outdoor cola looks bigger.

Nope lol. How can you possibly make that a blanket statement? Could it be the outdoor wasn't grown to its full potential? My outdoor plants are always the same structer in as out. Mind you I get way more from outdoor if I can look after them but they are growing for 2-3 months longer outdoors. I just don't see a difference in the buds.

Not talking of total harvest or total volume. Take same size bud from outdoor and compare it to same size bud indoor. Bud indoor will weigh more than outdoor.
