Viparspectra XS1500 PRO & a friends tester seeds.

I'm going to run this ViparSpectra XS1500 PRO in a 2x2 tent along with some tester seeds sent to me by a friend out in CO. He's been working with a few strains, and didn't really disclose the cross involved. He just said that if I found a female, or 2.. It should be fire. If my brain has a brain.. I believe Terpfi3nd's Nag Champa has something to do with it. Seeds are sitting in solo cups waiting to sprout.
A new 2x2 tent is being put up to accommodate 7 out of 10 seeds that popped right away.
They are regular seeds so I will have to seek & destroy any males. Hoping to get 2-3 females. 2 is fine..
but one at the least to finish out. If I happen to somehow end up with no females, I have plenty of clones I can use, or other seeds I can pop. I'd love to run 2 plants with 6 colas each in 2gal pots. Let's see how it plays out.

I'm unsure what I will be feeding for this grow. It will either be Athena, Lotus, or a concoction of things I have laying around. Why stop experimenting at the light & seeds right?
They will be transplanted 14 days after sprout. 14 days later they will be flipped. Whoever throws balls will get 86'd on sight. Those who don't will get transplanted. Pot size depends on how many are left. Clones will be taken, for I don't know what I'm in for, and there may be some potential for me to keep & share.

I would like to thank @ViparSpectra for extending this opportunity my way to test out this new light. It's a 150W power draw from the wall, but I've tested it at 160w at 100% power. Not bad at all. Hoping this isn't an issue seeing how it is greater than the advertised power rating by a little over 6% instead of 3%. Doesn't seem like a huge difference, but I'm no electrician.

Here's some more info on the light provided by the manufacturer:

I will return with more photos of the set up once I get Everything put together. The tent still needs a few things like exhaust & a fan. I can gather those things to be cleaned prior to installation. Even with other things going on I should have pics before this time tomorrow.
Cheers RIU. :bigjoint:

Tent is all set up. I have placed cardboard underneath to keep them elevated off the floor.
A small 4” inline fan with a speed controller was added.

They will be misted with water until they grow their 1st set of true leaves.

Got a little action today. A couple more decided to sprout. The others are just taking their time.
I almost decided to chuck them.
Already showing signs of weakness?
Would any of you had tossed the slackers? My thing is they are regs, and they did pop, so I don’t want to be foolish & possibly toss out females.

I have yet to add a hygrometer to monitor temps & RH, but I will as soon as I get some AAA batteries. I have a wireless @Inkbird IBS-TH2 available for the tent.

That’s all I really have for an update for now. These are usually the boring days, mixed with a little anxiousness for these others to sprout.
If anyone has any input, or constructive criticism let’s have it. I can take it & build with it rather than take offense one bit. I’m still learning, and I’ll be saying the same in a decade or so I’m sure. :joint: :dunce:

This last one looks like it’s not going to make it, but we’ll see.

Sponsored grows pop around once in awhile - They reached out ( said why not ). Even as it is a “ contracted “ grow - i planned to do some growing before summer heat anyways. Plus they shipped it quickly and it looks like a solid light for many new growers looking to get into indoor.

Just didn’t think so many hit the scene. Lol.
I will give them props for allowing many different growers to feel out this new light under different style grows.

It will be nice to see how it does … I know like some other channels they like to unbox it and that’s about it .. never show it being used in a grow … definitely will be watching …

Man down. Looks like one of the sprouts didn’t make it… F2BF1C4D-2619-479B-99FB-713B7F17156B.jpeg

but another one surfaced, so we still have 4.

Things aren’t looking good for the last 2. I chucked the 3 that wouldn’t pop.

I know they look a little dry, but they were misted right after the pic was taken. I’ve only been misting enough to wet the top layer, and drip a little down the center where the seed/taproot is.

So far so good for the 4 candidates remaining.

The XS1500 Pro by @ViparSpectra is being pretty good to them. I have the light sitting at 22” at 50%. I doubled the height & setting recommended by Viparspectra in order to supplement heat for them.
If they’re happy, I’m happy.
If I’m the end I get all males, I just acquired a few fancy cuts from a friend that I would love to get going soon.
Gary Payton (cookies cut)
Grease monkey & southern sugar (exotic Mike’s cuts) I literally just got them yesterday. I don’t wanna say I hope the seedlings are male so I can dig into these, but hey.. :rolleyes:7FA2834D-011D-45F3-B532-15A2B049EB95.jpeg

The babies enjoy the XS1500 PRO! Good to see that!
These 3 cuts look good too, plan to grow them together?
Hope all is well with you! :weed:

I plan to keep these plants & turn them into mothers. They will serve as a substitute however if the seeds turn out to be 4 males. I do not wish to bloom any males now. Maybe next summer. I’m not ready to take steps in another direction, as I’m still learning the path I’ve taken. The expect the experience along the way to be a beautiful experience to say the least.

In my journey I have saved a few plants, and I keep cloning to preserve it in my garden. Here they are.
The container on the left (rear) is a clone I have kept for over a year in that cup. This summer she will be replaced by the one on the right (front) and flowered outside. The replacement will be minimized. (Roots pruned connecting the nursery pot to the cup, and topping the tall growth.)
Then i

This is a bag seed clone I grew outdoors in the summer. I want it to be cleaner this time. She’s a pretty sativa leaner.
4DEBC285-E2DD-4A0E-B160-1D73EF6F3563.jpeg

This is another strain that’s been in the cup for about 14 months. She will be cloned & flowered this summer, or… I may just keep her in the cup for as long as I can. Just to see how long I can keep her alive. I love challenges.

Day 14 above soil. Nothing much to report. Other than I’m pleased to see true leaves by the time they hit the cups rim. I’m really not a fan of stretching seedlings.

I can’t really say I have been keeping track of the environment because I have it sewed up in the tent. No exhaust, no humidifier. All I know it’s it’s a moist slap of warm breeze when I open it up. I don’t bother them other than to water & force them to take pictures for the journal.

These will only be in the cups for maybe another week when the soil should be about depleted of nutes. Transferring into a bigger pot of fresh soil will extend the plants “water only period”.
1 gallon is our next up pot size. 3gal May be the max I’ll use in the 2x2, unless we are left with only 1 plant to flower. Then I will go to 5 or 7gallon.
Thank you to whoever is reading along on this journey. I appreciate you, and your insight is valued high around here. :eyesmoke:

Day 12:
I am noticing one leaning. It’s depending on the cup to hold it up. Signs of a weakling if I’m asked. Not going to chuck it just yet. I’m also going to make it get back up on its own.
I’ve also added in the new clones to bask in the light with our seedlings since there’s space.

:weed:Nice day to you HydroKid239

What strains are the 4 in solo cups?
I was told it was a surprise. Seeds are a cross that a friend put together. I have been watching his grows, and I'm sure
it's something special. These are just testers. I revealed my suspicions in post #1. It was just a guess though. All these
seeds are the same strain is all I really know.

Clean setup and healthy looking plants.
Can I ask what type of medium you keep your year old clones in? Feeding schedule? And do you just keep topping them to keep it short and stout like that? I'm wanting to keep a couple clones alive like this while I try out some new genetics.
Great grow so far. Following from here
