Ok, here is the deal, I have a 3x3x6 flower room, with a 400 watt HPS.
I have been tring to figure out how to produce more bud in the same time frame (8-9 weeks.) I can fit about 6 plants in 3.5 gal buckets in there.
how can I get more bud with out a bigger room or more light?
then it hit me " A Dark Room " some place to keep plants that are sleeping!
I'm in the process of building a dark room under my stairs ( sorry I never post photos on line.) this will be a ventelated/Faned dark room only.
I will have 6 plants in there 12 hrs a day, and switch them twice a day with the plants in the flowering room, thus doubling my use of the space!
Plus this will be big enough to keep 12 plants for the 36 hrs final sleep before harvest.
Plus with the fan installed and some string I have a place to dry my harvest before curing. :joint:
Any one see a down side to this?

sounds like a good plan as long as you can guarantee the 12/12 rotation, i was gonna do the same thing but due to a few changes in circumstances can't now.

Yes at 6:00 am and at 6:00 pm every day, if I can not do the swap my care giver (wife) can.

You could just put a light in there and have another flowering room and not have to worry about all that plant moving. This seems like a much more logical idea. Power consumption would be the same. The only downside would be the cost of the extra light but in the long run it would probably be worth it because you might want to go on vacation sometime or something.

The cost of a light is not where it stops by any means!
Light, Ventilation ( this is a major cost, if done properly.) The meterial to make the "flowering room" as compaired to some black plastic/staples/velcrow and a fan. stuff for reflection, better power to that area, timers, ect......
Alot more than just a light.

sounds like an ok plan to me, just sounds like all that moving around is going to get old really quick.. i'm not sure how far away your flowering room is from where your building the dark room under the stairs, but i do know how heavy and awkward that moving flowering plants can be.. once a month i like to take my plants into the bathtub and give them a good flushing, and only though its only two or three plants at most, they get very heavy and cumbersome to move once they get fairly big and start to bud..
now if you could come up with some kind of caster wheels or something along those lines so that you could simply roll the plants from room to room, now you'd be cooking with fire.. just my $.02 worth though..

The room is 10 feet away, and will be moving a total of 12 plants twice a day, 6 in and 6 out!
Yes a little time/effort consuming, but in the long run I'm flowering 12 plants not just 6!

For small grows, this is a great idea, assuming you're never going to miss a switch. Why not make a room 100% more productive? Good idea man.

thats what i do, 6 plants under the hps light & another 6 plants in the dark while the other 6 are under the hps.

I'd consider getting a desk mover (I think that's what you'd call it), basically a little platform on wheels. Just wheel one batch out, wheel the next one in.

I like the idea, the only real issue would be if they didn't get moved at the right time every single day. The easier you make this chore, the smaller your chance of it not getting done. I think if you design it right this could be done very easily.

Just a heads up. I had to move mine 8 feet away twice a day, SUCKED. You will get tired of it. And i was only doing a couple plants. But whatever works. GL

i dont know if your flower room can be bigger, but u could divide the room in half with black plastic and use a garage door opener, gate opener, or sun circle type device on a timer to move the light from one "room" to the other..... u can use "y's" to use same ventelation fans and even put a "door" in to make watering and maintenence easier. Also sog works good to at least feel like yeild is increased, but harvesting 2 plants every week or 2 gets old with manuricuring allll the time

if I could make the room bigger, why split the room, I would use the whole thing to flower.

View attachment 1064603Sounds like a good idea, but a lot of work. My suggestion, buy two carts like that and keep all of your plants on them, then just roll them back and forth in between the two rooms. With a cart you could even mount a scrog screen and still be able to move the plants in between the two rooms.

Great idea.
