Water chiller questions

So I purchased a water chiller on craigslist. I recommend you always look there first. It was brand new and half off such a killer deal. It's only a 1/10 hp. I'm running a 5 bucket recirculating system, one bucket being the brain. I don't want to run the water with nutrients through the chiller so I got a cooling coil, or a wort chiller known by brewers. My question is do I need a res and pump to move the water through the chilling coil and back to the chiller or can I comment a direct water circuit from the chiller itself?

I'm just worried about gunking up chiller and having residual nutes still in it messing with my ppm and shit
