Water cooled COB fixture

Hello all,

I’m in the final stages of picking COBs for my DIY light. There are three 6ft 8inch Al square tube rails that have CXM22 COBs and holders zip tied and hot glued to the tubes. The fixture covers a 4x8 area.

I also have three HLG600H 54B drivers powering the fixture so as originally planned I would have 8 COBs running off each driver. I originally planned to have all 3000K 90 CRI COBs but at 65watts/sqft I was wondering about possibly doing 36 COBs with 12 COBs per driver and leave one driver to power COBs of a different color temp to give the light some veg power.

I’m going for the very best light I can make to power a FLOWER room. The size and number of the Al rails are fixed. The drivers powering them are fixed. I have already completed the remote wiring and light frame design.

All helpful input regarding color temp choice appreciated.

NOTE the Al rails kinda fix me in to the CXM 22 as that size of chip is exactly the size of my Al square tubes. Unless there are others chips the same size?

so when you start pushing cold water thru that thing and it begins to sweat all over your electronics and you reach up and raise the light and get the shock of your life

ummm...I know theres a question here somewhere lol

oh ya...
is it gonna sweat, ummm of course it is

Do you have any temperature sensors in the system?


Not necessarily, OP doesn't mention they're using a chiller.
ok so if it runs solution at room temp I suppose that might work but if the water going thru the pipes is colder than the room its gonna sweat

Looks dope but isn't water cooling a pain in the ass? Have you looked at chilled grow lights? Their heatsinks are designed to work with water-cooling
 
If you knew COBs and read the thread the drivers are mounted remotely in wall. I also have tested the fixture. The question is about what color COBs to choose. When you have a Quest 225 de-Huey and circulatory fans sweat isn’t an issue.

The water is collected rain water (5000 gals) which will vary from 50-60 degrees F

My lights raise themselves so no touching required but besides that the Al is not conducting there are these things called wires running the COBs.

Since they run in parallel and will have 12 distribution blocks D5CA1342-7886-49D1-A165-F2983275F94B.png housed inside plastic boxes even if there is condensation forming on the cooler light bars I don’t see any issue.
 
I hope we can get past the water cooling issue and talk about color spectrum. I see other lights that have different settings and provide 2-3 different spectrums of light to mimick Mother Nature as best as possible. I’d like my DIY light to do something similar. I was hoping to hear from Growmau5 as his YouTube channel taught me most most of my knowledge in making this light!

Is there any value to adding a variety of color COBs for this light? 3000K 90 CRI or 2700,3000,3500? I’m getting closer to order day on these things. With 576 being ordered I want to make the right decision.
