Water Cure.....Experience Preferred

I have found so many differing opinions on water curing buds. Spent many hours researching threads here and honestly...tiz driving me crazy!!
Could I hear from kind folk who have actually water cured some bud? Did you hang first and then water cure? How many days did you water cure? How often did you change the water? Some folks said that they kept the trichs that broke off from the cure and smoked them. How do you get the trichs from the water you drain out when putting in fresh water? How long do you hang them to dry at the end of the water cure? Do you put them in jars to finish curing after water cure? Another post said they bought some med that was harsh, so they water cured it and then they say it was much smoother and gave a better high. Can you really water cure bud that's already been cured? Another post said you don't have to flush the last 2 weeks if you water cure...is that true? I understand it will mess with flavor and smell....that's not an issue when it's just low to mid-grade imho.
Seriously sorry for all of the questions...and understand ev1 does there own thing. Really appreciate any experience with this that you are willing to share.
Obviously I'm a newbie outdoor grower :)

Water cured bud tastes like filthy bong water.

Did it once (with my own dried an cured bud that wasn't flushed properly) and while the smoke is smooth, it's actually too smooth. Like ultra-light cigarettes. And it tastes absolutely rancid.

I would have rather stuck to my harsh bud than that crap.

Summary: water-curing is just plain wack.

Thanks for the reply acidbox420. As I stated in op...not concerned with that aspect since it's not a strain that's super dank and tasty. I wouldn't ruin a good one's aroma and flavor.

Wow...thanks for sharing your experience. Most of the posts I read said it didn't really have a "taste". Many did however comment on the lightness of it. They stated they had to be careful cuz they would get baked. It's good to find out it can taste rank too.

as long as your didn't burn your plants with nutes, then any plant will taste better than water-cured bud.

Water-cured bud tastes like nothing with a dash of week-old bong water. I'd rather smoke a sock.

Thanks for your input folks. Exactly what I'm looking for...honest opinions of those that have done it. :)

Are you hitting the water cured weed out of a bong? with old bongwater maybe? That's probably why it tastes like bong water. I've tried it. Made my buds look black, smooth smoke, no taste, not a great smell. kinda whatever

I tried water curing out of curiosity like you when i ran across it on the forum about a year and a half ago. From what i recall, pretty sure i cut and hanged the buds i was planning on water curing (after trimming it first) for two days

I'm not saying this is the proper way to do it, but the one and only time i tried it, this was my method.

-Dried it for 2 days hanging (after trimming it)
-Put the buds in glass jars filled with water, and i put a mesh screen on top of the buds to keep them submerged
-Changed the water once a day, for 7-9 days (sorry it's been a while, don't recall exactly)
-After the 7-9 days of water curing, i let them hang dry for a day or two, and it was ready to smoke

Now, smell/weight/flavor wise it had almost no scent unless broken apart or squeezed, it turned very dark dark green (from most of the chlorophyll leeching out into the water) and it was neutral in taste. The only real advantage that i noticed in water curing was that it was cured faster, had little smell (good for dorm rooms or living with your parents, ect), and it was really really smooth (having asthma, i really noticed the difference). On the down side, it looks less appealing, weights less because you're flushing out a whole bunch of material when it's submerged, and it doesn't smell very much (also could be a plus, depending on your situation).

Don't let others discourage you that it'll taste horrible or smell shitty, that was definitely not the case when i tried it. It simply doesn't smell and is pretty unattractive looking, but it gets you thoroughly high and is very smooth to smoke.

You can keep feeding nutrients to your plant all the way up to harvest time if you are planning on water curing the entire batch. The nutrients and chemicals are flushed during the water curing, but if re-sale is your goal then i wouldn't recommend water curing. If you want a smooth smoke, fast cure time, and don't care how pretty it looks then water curing might be for you. I only did it with about 1/4oz of my first grow ever, so i wasn't disappointing because it was free and i didn't care how good it looked.

Hope this answered some of your questions and good luck if you do give it a try. Like i said, the worst you would end up with is ugly looking, smooth smoking weed.

Thanks for sharing your process for water cure. No re-sale here...just personal use, so looks etc. aren't an issue. And a big Thank You for taking the time to answer so many of my questions!
