water curing method modification

I plan on water curing when I harvest. I had an idea about the possibility of speeding process up even more and wanted to see if anyone has tried it or knows what the outcome would be.

What if you could continuously replace the water it is soaking in? Like either have a drum of water and a pump to keep replacing the water. Or even simpler, have a water hose turned on the whole time to keep flushing out the water. My idea was to use the cooler idea and put a water hose in to keep the water circulating and replacing itself. Maybe even add a fishtank powerhead to help with moving the water around.

Would this speed up the process even more with moving water constantly though the buds? Of course the water could not be turned on too much but just enough to create a current across the buds to keep "washing" them.

Could this decrease the 7 day rule down to about lets say 3 or 4 days?

Any thoughts?

Hey man I water cured a few buds last year in 4 days using the buds soaked in water in a jar method, I couldnt wait 7 days lol! The smoke was sooooo smooth but the taste was almost gone. F.Y.I. incase you never used this method before your buds will turn out much smaller but the potency will be much stronger:mrgreen:
I am gonna water cure the buds off my small plant this year so that I have something to smoke while leaving my 3 big girls to dry and cure properly:blsmoke: Hope it works out for you man.

I would not advise moving the water around very much.It will knock more crytals and hairs off the buds. After having done a couple of water cures lately, I do believe that the water temp. is key in the leeching process. I found that on days when the area where my cure was stored were hotter, the more green and discolored the water was in a 24 hour period. Keep the temp. of your water at 85F degrees will either allow for a better cure,and/or possibly shortening the total time from 7 days down to maybe 4-5.I also think that if you are curing any buds that are more than 2 in. in diameter, you could actually go 8-10 days for a complete cure.

Well guys I truly understand what you are saying. I really do. But.....I have to question the philosophy a little. While some say a soaking is what it takes, but I have to question the fact of constantly replacing the water with a washing motion involved. Not saying I am right but with a current flowing though the bud however slight it may be, it keeps the water moving. It in theory will keep fresh water moving through it. I understand that with my idea if I turned the water hose on full blast it would possibly do some damage, I dont intend on turning it full strength, just enough to keep fresh water circulating.
I also understand the idea behind water curing. I know that it is actually a thc to weight ratio. It does not technically increase the thc level. Its all a ratio to the weight, and it boils down to how it is diluted with what ever is left. 15% is 15% no matter what. Never mind, I am not going to try and explain it, I understand math and ratios.

I was just wondering if constant slow movement of water would decrease the "washing" time of the bud and decrease the time for water curing.

if the water coming out of the hose is even somewhat cold it will break the trichromes off the stalks. when trichromes get cold they harden and the stalks get brittle. i know some hose water can be quite chilly.

Ok the short answer is no.I do not see any benefit in moving water across or through the bud.Just soak it, and try to agitate it as little as possible.try for warmer water temps and rotate the buds around every time you change the water.Changing the water more than once a day or very slowly on a constant basis might be good, especially in warmer water where you will actually " use " most of the water in one day.

OK.... I see your point. Now let me get a little crazy here, because this is where I was going lead this thread ultimately. Now dont be afraid to tell me I smoked one to many bowls, which is very possible. I asked my original question to get a general response as to the idea only.

I have these small bags that are actually tight woven but still allow alot of water/air flow through them, while providing a tight structure to hold buds together. If and only if my original question provided me with positive results, I would attempt it. So far it has not. I do have these very porus bags that I can stuff the buds in. Where I was ultimately going with this is that what if I could use these bags and throw them into the washing machine? I would use the gentle cycle where it would lightly agitate them and the bags hold it all together.
I understand that my first question might be pushing the limit of damage, but my ultimate idea would be over kill.....it could be sure destruction of my harvest, but then again I am only asking a question.

I just did not want to embarass myself by saying throwing my bud into the washer....

Well, you could go one step further, and use the easiest method to do it, by just using a washing machine. You could leave the buds on the long branches, and just keep sticking them into the washtub until it's full, even pack them in a little. Then just fill the washing machine with water, you can easily control the temperature, and the water level, and turn off the machine. We don't want to agitate the buds.

Drain and repeat each day.

After day 7, spin dry! :hump:

HMMMM..............

However I control all of that for the most part but it seems kinda moot. My washer is broke and I can only wash in cold water. I had to reverse the hoses just to wash my clothes. I was potentially looking for a way to "wash" the buds in a few minutes or a few cycles. But not agitating them does make a lot of sense.

Well first off tying up the washer for a week for water curing probably won't work in most households, especially if a woman lives there.I definately see what you guys are trying to get at with the washer but I have to insist that it is overkill at best, and a terrible idea at worst. Try a regular water cure first, see all the hair that can come off the buds, see how even slight agitation can really wreak havoc on the plant material in a NORMAL water cure environment. If you still think the washer is a good idea after that, god help us!

That was a joke, guys. Just something to make you grin. :blsmoke:

Sorry you gave it so much thought.

Besides, when I tried it, I put in too much soap. :eyesmoke:

At the point when you are tossing your buds into a washer, it is time to just start making hash...Fuck the veg matter and go for the trichs....Why not? Then you can sell the left overs to the middle school...GL Oh'yeah, I was just kidding about the middle school...they know good bud by that age..

Do I just pick the buds off of the plant after flushing and surround them in warm water to be cured for a few days? That's what i'm getting in these posts. I just want to be sure.

This is soon to be tested out.
