I was wondering what the minimum wattage is that a cfl can be to get a plant through vegetative phase?

It depends how fast you want them to grow the more the better because cfl light doesnt go far.I would say roughly 100w of real power not equivilant power per a plant spread around it and on top.Running some sort of scrog method or even taking hangers and just tying the plant flat will give you the best yield for your buck.As far as flowering if using cfl the more the better GE light packs are the cheapest choice with each bulb giving you either 23 or 26 real watts per a bulb. And running those cheapo reflectors that are garage lights from walmart is fine just keep them real close and maybe polish them with some mother wheel polish to make them work a lil better.Hope this helps.

Small plants don't actually need all that much light to survive and don't need to veg very long. Strictly speaking, you could grow a plant under ten watts of light, just until it's a few inches tall and then flower it.

K i bought those reflectors at walmart. About $7 each great deal. I picked up six to start with cuz thats all i could afford and i picked up a pack of 4 20 watt cfls and I got 2 26 watt cfls all daylight for veg. I'm startin with 4 plants n hanging lights with reflectors over the pots with string. Ima take mother's finest's advice and flower when theyre about 5 or 6 inches tall. Will this be enough wattage/lumens for veg to achieve this height within 2-3 weeks and also how many watts am I gonna need for flowering and what kind of cfls should I get? Thanks.
