I’m in ny 100-125 a zip year atm some guys are moving dabs for 10$ a gram as well……….gettin rough hear
Shatter here has been $5-7/gr for at least a year, even before covid it was around $10/gr as that market was saturated, same with oil.

I'm suppose to be in talks sometime this week for a possible job and decided that if there's 0 change in a month after the USA opens borders on Sept 21 gonna shut the store down and keep the current online one going and go to work once again lol.

Well I must say my light dep stuff never gets the reviews you give. But I don’t think your reviews are wrong. Simply because when I show someone new they say wow that’s grown outdoors. The key is to finished by sept 1. Where I live there is no difference in temps from June til sept from indoor. Other then it’s too hot but that’s easy to bypass. Lots of water! But having said that all the outdoor growers I know can’t move anything at all.
That probably better looking than most green house I've seen out there.
Zips in my town in southern Ontario go from $55ish and up from there. Decent good bud by the ounce is generally about $120 CAD
Similar probably not far from you. I've seen oz from 75 and about $150 for decent meds.

buddy of mine called me and he had some greenhouse for 300/lb. Must be decent enough stuff because it pressing out to 110g rosin per lb.

would hate to be in "the business" right now, tons of competition and I am seeing really nice stuff everywhere just sitting. If my grow was my livelihood I'd def be looking to find a new niche.

Euro dude isn't wrong about everything.Though a little optimistic about the quality of outdoor that's found here. And maybe the fact that while weed was illegal here its been more or less a slap on the wrist for the last 20years vs other places that took the prohibition to the max on cannabis. I'd say the Canadian market on avg leans towards quality because even when weed was illegal, there were so many dealers/growers around you could change if quality became garbage.

on contrast when I was in Australia where it's super illegal, the weed on avg was also super garbage, more seed than bud etc at $380/oz to boot. After a few months I found a go who'd do $300/oz and I'd pass that as Canadian mids , but I sure was happy AF to get my hands on it.

If the California market is anything to go by (and I think it is because it's mature like the Canadian market) I been in dispensaries in LA and the weed was expensive but at least the quality was solid.

so long winded way of saying I think Canadian market will keep favouring quality as it has been.

I think we both would agree with the fact concentrates are cheap because we are overloaded with weed. Anytime shatter is that cheap we know why. TOO MUCH WEED!
If it's not made into concentrates it's destined for the garbage can.
Canada is overloaded. After this years outdoor harvest it will be worse.
I do know some folks who gave up on outdoor. They got sick of the late harvest and associated issues.

At some point I must have miscommunicated. I have no opinion on the quality of Canadian outdoor weed; I have never been to Canada.

Growing outdoors is not very appealing in general where the plant is illegal, even if conditions are good. You can't grow at scale and there is a big risk of your plants getting stolen or destroyed. It's also usually not possible to tend to the plants as one would want to, because of remote locations or the need for discretion; every visit bears a risk.

Now in Canada there is much less of that risk, and no real need to grow guerilla-style, but ironically conditions are rather poor. Late onset of flowering and early frosts at the same time... ouch.

I guess I would have to re-read my postings to find out where I said something to the account of "outdoor weed is the solution for Canada"; that's absurd.

I have lived in Australia for about a year, 20 years ago. When I was looking for a room, during one of the interviews the girl said "by the way, we're growing marijuana in our back yard, I hope you don't mind". I didn't end up moving in there, and I didn't look at the plant, but it was apparently not outrageous back then to grow some flower. Genetics were probably sub-par, since it was 20 years ago and Australia is quite a far ways from Dutch breeders.

I don't know about the Australian penalties and the amount of heat they put on growers, but I think the low quality of the bud over there is more due to the poor availability of good genetics. In Europe it doesn't really matter much if you're in a "super illegal" country or one of the lax ones, because Netherlands and Spain are so close, and it's therefore very easy to get your hands on prime seeds, anytime.

Growing out the flowers is easy enough when you have the seeds -- at least if you don't have to maximize for yield and the best possible bag appeal at the same time. That's definitely not necessary around here, there are more than enough customers to buy what you would call "mid-range" (true ditch-weed and stuff with additives in it exists, too, but it's probably getting less due to so many people growing indoors nowadays).

I went to USA last week crossed at Blaine crossing. They now have X-rays they scan the whole car with. This isn’t new but I’m guessing because of covid they are being used more. I couldn’t help but think about how many folks will get caught when the border opens. Too many desperate folks trying to save their financial lives. But as they searched me and scanned my car I couldn’t help but think. What a terrible idea it would be to try and get anything across. My life would be over right then and there. Too top it off they followed me to the gas station where I was buying some dogs. Watched the whole transaction and watched me cross back into Canada. So if one person takes anything away from my post it’s that don’t even try and think you’ll be the smart one to get away with it. There is too many people sitting around waiting for a dummy like you. I’m sure some have tried and been roasted this year. Working at fast food place for minimum wage is better then us prison.

I cross at the Blaine border too. So you were able to cross and come back same day? What were the requirements... I assume they changed recently? Before you needed to go get tested in the US before coming back into Canada. Is that still the case?

I’m First Nations so I don’t have the same requirements as most folks. I qualify under the jay treaty. I didn’t have to get testing, I came back as soon as I bought my dogs. But it was a bunch of arguing with one lady. Lucky the guy I dealt with was easy to deal with. I had to speak to public Heath officer and his word is final. I don’t have to quarantine because it was for business.

Years ago a friend took me to a weed farmers market someplace in Washington state. At first they wouldn't let me in as my medical card was from another state. All of these small businesses, farmers, and just mom & pop. It was just the greatest vibe. But if course the government had to step in.

My ex would always get hassled coming back from US to Canada with 0 problems from the US guards. Last time she went for me to pick up fuel injectors for my Bronco they strip serched her and damolished the pacakge with even gouged on of the injectors from guessing looks like the guy stabbed the box first.

Do you need a passport these days to cross the line? Used to go down to Bellingham to score bricks of pot from my bro-in-law 40 years ago and run them back. Those days are long gone. :)

I have record for trafficking cocaine and PPOT cannabis. So the USA always checks me and my paperwork to make sure I’m allowed in. In most cases they say they didn’t think I’d be allowed in. Canada doesn’t bother me as much but I believe that’s because the Americans keep tabs on me each time I’m there.

The biggest assholes on the planet work for border services and the USA Customs guard pricks. Both side equal cunts and degenerates to me.
I'd spit in their faces if they wouldn't crush my skull with their baton.
I hate their living guts.
I don't travel to the USA anymore as dealing with these services make me sick.

I’m just grateful to be able to cross considering my criminal record. So the inconvenience for the ability to enter is my trade off.

I've been in the clutches of US customs. Questioned up and down. Eventually let go. No charges or anything. The power they tried to demonstrate in this incident was disgusting. What kind of filthy humans are they? They think in that little area of border crossing they are lord and master. Which of course they are. Hence why they'll never see me again.
But I said to myself 'I'll never let those cunts ever have that power over me again"...NEVER !
So my money stays here in Canada. The US government is excellent at welcoming tourist with a kick in the groin. Canadian gov...same assholes....different flag. I'd like to tour a few spot in the US...will I? Not a chance thanks to their border guards. Who needs that hassle?

The cops do the same thing to me all the time. With their fake road blocks illegal searches. You know how many times I have been placed under arrest handcuffed and put in the back of cops car? They said we know there’s marijuana in the car. 3,4 times, only for them to find nothing and let me go. They tap my phones follow me around, send snitches into my circle. Does any of this stop me from going outside? No if you stop going they win. I get joy out of their bullshit now. It’s also boat loads of information if you listen closely.

There is a high end market that moves very fast. For example look into "gas leak" strains. Basically a branded bag of gray zone weed that is very high in demand at $200+ a oz.

Anything below high end seems to have dropped in price drastically though.

I'm not even saying gas leak is better than the other stuff just that they have branded it well and it appeals to the people who are willing to spend $200+ still.

People that are willing to pay more for quality are always the customers id rather deal with than the guy always looking for a deal.

You weren't wrong about anything you said.

What happened was, you (and I) struck a nerve. In an already saturated market, we are sharing our opinion that it will get WORSE for Canada growers. That causes the comfort zone to be intruded and the lashing out begins. As if you have to be somewhere to understand anything. I have been in Canada plenty, it wasnt necessary to see the future

The other difficulty is understanding when a bit hot like that, that you and I are on their side. We dont want or like what's happening, but what's the point of the discussion, not to hurt anyones feelings or to discuss something?

It is his lack of understanding of what is right below...the Midwest. The worlds most fertile farmland, currently growing crops that grow in identical conditions as cannabis. Sure California and now Oregon and Washington are further along...but that is because their laws are more liberal. California has had medical use cannabis for 26 years. It started there, I even have family that was involved in creating the act.

That is due to the politics of the region. The midwest, where all the farmland is, is mostly still illegal - totally. It is changing, but for now it is controlled politically in order to send the $$$ to the politicians friends. I'm sure that is no different than anywhere else.

How did things go in Canada when Michigan, on the border to Canada, went fully legal? I bet that hurt the market, didnt it?

As I mentioned...right now, the USA has multiple laws and Acts that pay farmers not to grow. If that sounds crazy...there are reasons, but in some cases to keep prices stable. The farmers themselves would go broke if they all grew as much as they wanted to.

So it has not happened yet. The REAL glut. When every state, and federally it is legal in the USA. And every person that wants to grow does.

Our govt is well aware what will happen when that goes down...so they slow walk all of it.

Why is this relevant? Because the thread is about Canadian weed having zero value. It is harsh, I hate that it has come down like this, but I get everything being said.

It will get worse, much worse. If you dont want to cross the border to sell NOW...just wait until the profit in the US is taken out completely.

Outdoor...hey, it will be what it will be. Greenhouses are going up in all the legal US states already.

All I am saying is...when you look at Washington and Oregon, where the glut has been created purposefully -- liberal laws allowing huge amounts to be grown..
The inevitable occurs...the market floor drops out. The only reason it hasnt gone like that in every state is because of legality and politics.

If we had the laws of Canada...can you see where this is going? If Canada is saturated now, and the US decriminalizes it and allows LP style grows....what happens to the market?

I think that is what we said, there were no personal attacks made. I like a good discussion. I realize my thoughts are not "right" or somehow smarter. They are just my views.

Thanks for your reply, very thoughtful indeed.

And indeed, I am on the same side as everybody here. I'd like the flower to get legalized as far as possible, and for everybody who wants to grow great weed to be able to make a living out of it.

I do not think it will be possible. It is just way too easy to grow, if you have the genetics, and there are more than enough expert breeders on the market already to supply the seeds.

The breeding will get infinitely better when (if) there will be zero restrictions and it will be possible to grow hundreds and thousands of specimen in the open.

Right now the money is in the illegality of "the caper". It will go away, there won't be a lot of money left in the business for most people.
