I have no doubt you will be if you keep it at it. We all have to start somewhere and we dont all have a natural green thumb. Everything you do is going to attract negative criticism on some level. Just got to be a man and get over it. Bitch energy attracts the trolls.
I was learning to surf like 10 years ago as someone was filming the surf school from the shore and uploaded it to youtube which I found like a month later and everyone in the comments were laughing at all the crap beginner surfers (myself included). I could have crumbled away screeching about "haters" etc. But I didnt care and kept at it. I could probably out surf halfof those fuckers these days.

They will survive but you could have got so much more.
Tip for next time don't cut so much off only the bottom third of the plant if there thick and any branches that will never see the top.
These pics are bad examples as I was lazy with this run and left them pretty thick probaly a little too thick, I monster cropped them by accident and wasn't happy so didn't put too much effort into this one. But it should give you a idea.

How much time did you waste training that plant and why the hell do some people refuse to believe in photosynthesis and instead believe that if they cut off all the leaves then all the energy is just going to flow straight to the buds? By completely defoliating that plant you have severely reduced the amount of energy the plant can produce to grow flowers.
