weird led problem... need help

It can short if any part of the wire or solder touches the side of the star. Sometimes when soldering the plastic jacket on the wire pulls back a bit and exposes more of the wire. I am not saying that you have a short, only that you want to keep all the exposed wire within the area of the white to avoid the possibility of a short.

Ah gotcha your saying the actual side like where they are conveyed when you buy 10 packs. I can see that but it was not my problems it was bad leds. The seller is sending me new ones plus a few each.

I got the 5 xtes for 2.25 each which is a killer deal.


even if there not topped binned with 3w leds what are you really losing... for that price which is half then the USA company just add an extra led to the string and I'm sure it made up for the low bin.

A series configuration is less likely to be damaged than a parallel configuration.

I very seldom use a series circuit. It is easier to series but one failure and you loose whole thing. In parallel you only loose the one LED. And be careful with that solder gun. You can overheat the drivers or what ever you are soldering and damage them.
