What do you guys think on removing bottom growth to get maximum power to top buds ? And how far in can u remove the lower small bud growth ?

Good idea, and quit a bit depending on the size of the plant.

If you have a big flowering area and not enough veg stock to fill it, you can also tip your plants over. Plant tipping is sweet because it essentially makes a 4' tall plant 4' wide - after a couple weeks all the branches grow upwards and the lower growth gets the light it needs to bud. The less compact / bushy the plant, the less benefit to tipping it - works great on plants that are big but not overly bushy, and still have branches far down the stalk (lower branches die first, both from lack of light and either nit. def or nit. lockout)

I remove all lower branching, especially bud sites not receiving much light. I'd rather send all that energy upwards and get it up to my main cola's rather than have a bunch of popcorn buds.

Basically you would be lollipopping the plant.

You can, probably want to do it sooner if your goal is to keep the plant from putting energy into growing it. Best time is normally at the end of veg, unless your doing some super-short veg style sog.

When you start trimming, you want to start by topping or fimm'ing, and bending / tieing down the lower branches. If you start by pruning, you end up with a lolipop, but you generally want a bush - that means you need the lower growth to grow out, not chop it off.

Grow Like a Pro with Nico Escondido does a really good job explaining it. Probably the most useful thing in the somewhat-glossy video.
