What are the advantages of larger buckets/barrels?

Notice how I said something small like a coffee can vs a 5gal bucket.
Not a 1gal vs a 5gal.
I assumed he already new a longer veg equals a larger yield.
Thats only if the container is of adequate size of course.
I also said..."considering the grow container is the only different variable".
Meaning in the example I gave.......... a coffee can vs 5gal

as you mentioned no veg time, a plant in a 5" container could very well yield the same as a plant in a 5 gallon container.

I've grown seed plants through to full harvest in a 4 inch pot so many times i couldn't count them if i tried. I can yield the same from a 4" pot as I can a 1 gallon container from a 4 week veg' (seed).
 
Yeh pretty two way on this issue, when I started way back in the day 5 gallon buckets were recommended for flower room, but now I drop down to 3 gallon buckets and see that roots still do have some room, even with the big 5's I saw that roots did noy seem to fill bottom half of dirt..........
 
wow thats pretty good because shoot just 7-9 days after seedling is put in veggy room my 4" pots are slammed full of roots......

Do you have a Lowe's or Home depot near you? They sell 2 heavy duty 27 gallon totes for 20$, they're even more low profile than the barrels you mention.

Yes bigger containers will allow for bigger plants, also the more nute capacity you have will = greater periods of stability, It's all @ a cost though, more light more nutes bigger equipment!... but the results can be amazing!
