What are the best cree leds

Hi guys as the title says what would be the best cree led lights to use all the way through a grow? I have just recieve my custom cree panels which are the same 3750k leds the xgs-190 uses but paid $120 for them shipped as people seem to have good results just wondered if there is better spectrum on any other model of cree led

Well In my honest opinion yes I would flower with a deeper red. 3000k or 2700k are what most are using to flower with. The CXA 3xxx series cobs are kicking ass. They come in 50, 70, and 90 watts chips. Tons of threads in here with CXA grows. Do a search and check them all out and see what you think.

i'd like one that's plenty of power for a smaller space, but is adjustable, so that i could lean it blue for veg, and when it's time to flower, crank it toward red. (i would also want supplemental side lamps of some kind, preferably similarly adjustable).

Whether that's what everyone would agree i should do, that's what i want to do.

I found some white cobs on ebay that look decent, but not sure... i was looking into the ledgroupbuy lumia at first, but it seems not quite right for the application (though it's adjustable and the whole package is just really nice). I want to build my own, but (A) i'm no electrician, and (B) i'm not sure where is the best place to source the right parts, or even which parts would be just right for the job. There's a whole slew of different stuff, and it's painstaking trying to solve all those multiple problems at once. It's a bit overwhelming. But for my situation, LED is a must, so i'm trying to find the best combination of efficacy/efficiency and lowest cost. I obviously don't want to spend anything on something insufficient, but i also would like to avoid "overkill." I don't need 600w worth of lamps; the space is just not that large. I'd rather employ strategic positioning, instead of having some crazy beast lamp bleaching tops but neglecting the sides and lowers... just not sure what to look for at this point (and i'm in the same spot w/ soil lol... so much confuse!).

Where'd you get those panels OP?

Great parts Pedrovski, interested to see what's next! As for how red - I think the consensus seen on the board here on of 3500-4000k seems about right for a single led spectrum. That 3750 is bang on. I have some Bridgelux a fair bit redder than that in my cab and plants really miss the blue.


Anyway led is easy to supplement if you want to add a few royal-blue/deep-red/uv in amongst the whites to juice up ya girls.

Just run the cxa3070 than just what amperage 600ma,700ma,900ma,1050ma,1400ma, that's all on how efficiencyplays into your ssituation.

If you use 3000k cobs by them self you will get absolutely killer results. If you want to take it a step further add a couple 630nm"red" 660nm "deep red" 450nm royal blue" 480nm"blue" and one step even further is a far red or border ir at 730nm for 10 min at lights out to put the girls to sleep.

REAL uv leds are very very expensive and most China ones you see on ebay are just a purplish color claiming they are uv.

that is the setup i have and love it.

also i have 2 5000k cobs to 6 3000k cobs plus the reds and blues on different switches.

i then have some 3000k 3w in a 5gallon bucket where i put the "best" female with CS to self ppollinate and create $1000s worth in seeds.

nothing like having a clone only GDP, or GSC in seeds.

was thinking of getting one of the bigger cree leds as you guys have alll had some pretty nice looking plants under them but i saw 1 of the crees on datasheet for xml2 which stuck out for the spectrum and says
XMLBWT-00-0000-000HT50E7
80-CRI White 2600 K-4300 K
357 lumen at 1000ma
seems like it would be good if i can get hold of it, what do you giys think? and i do currently have 3 of my own made 100w panels with leds ranging from 380nm:420nm:450nm:460nm:4000k:3000k:630nm:660nm:730nm
which i was thinking to have spread out in the tent would the 3750k led panels work well with these to suppliment?

Cutter once had the 3000K T5 XML2 available but they must have sold out. You can get the 3000K T4 bin on aliexpress for a decent price and it is a great color for flowering.

Fasttech has the 4500K U2 bin XML2 on 20mm stars for a fair price.

That said, PG is right the CXA3070 is a cheaper and easier solution for flowering.

Yea for a hands down no brain operation you can't go wrong with just some 3000k 3070s and one of two 5000k 3070 to supplement. It is so simple with such great results.
The added time, money and total expenses of adding the other spectrums are truly most likely not worth it to the majority of personal growers unless you really grasp the entire concept.

if they are xlm2s 20 on a prewired board for $120 that's a pretty damn good price.

the leds on my panels are XTEAWT-02-0000-00000BFF6 and i doubt you could get them on ebay but think i am going to sell 1 of the panels i have because using 2 of the cree panels and 2 full spectrum panels in my tent and i bought them from http://www.sunshineopto.com/
now that the 660nm cree has popped up thinking the next upgrade to my panels will be
XPGBWT-01-R250-00GF6 3750k x10
XPEPHR-L1-0000-00901 660nm photo-red x8
XPGBWT-L1-0000-00H51 6000k x2
Only issue with this is that chinese manufacturers i have contacted say they cannot get stock of the 660nm crees at the moment so shall have to wait till they do.

That's the plan when there available! it will out perform the xgs-190 and the rw-150 as that uses 630nm planning on buying quite a few panels with 3750k and 660nm and planning on starting selling them on eBay that way people will have a better option than Chinese junk for like $150

I wouldn't say it'd outperform...just different.

Have you ever harvested a plant with that spectrum?
well tbh no only ever grown using panels using 3w chinese leds but certainly seing a big difference in the speed of the plants growth now ive swapped some of my chinese panels for the crees and was just making an assumption with 660nm light having much higher photosynthesis rate

There are a lot of variables that aren't entirely clear yet. While 660nm absorbs the best, it penetrates the least (because it absorbs the best).

660nm will cause %Pfr to converge higher, upto 85% with pure 660nm light... Higher %Pfr means less stretching and more photosynthetic activity, but...

... if %Pfr starts at 85% at lights out, it will take a long time to reach 0 in darkness, which will reduce the effective night length, thus delaying flowering and making the stretch period take longer.

This is why people use a pulse of 730nm at lights out, to slam %Pfr to 0 as fast as possible. The higher %Pfr is during the day, the longer it takes to get to 0 without the 730nm pulse when the lights go out.

It's also possible that 660nm during the day may inhibit flowering in some way. It could be that a lower %Pfr during the day is actually better for flowering.

I haven't seen enough grows to know for sure what's really the best setup/sequence.
