thanks

How big of plants are you planning on growing? Do you plan to transplant to larger pots as they grow? How much money do you have to spend on soil? Are you going to hand water the plants, or are you going to flood and drain in trays?

im planning to grow them to 3 feet at least. translanting wouldnt be an issue. i have no limit on spending. and i am will going to hand water the plants this growth

I would get .5 gallon pots to start, then switch to #5 a week to weeks before you bloom. I have been using an expensive mix of soil, Fox Farms Ocean Forest 1.5 cubic feet mixed with Fox Farms Light warrior 1 cubic foot, at a ratio of 1.5 to 1. So one bag of each mixed thoroughly. If you can afford this combo, you are in for a treat, or atleast your plants will be...

Hi pis,go read subcools and ohsogreens threads on gardening in the organic section,it's all there.

Start small, then move to larger...You will be able to water more often, cut down on any root rot problems, use less water/nutrient, and they say that the plant stays more compact also.....But I am not sure about that, but I am sure that it is not a good idea to water soil that does not have roots sucking up the moister..

just look for some nuteless soiless mixs and get the 3 gal black pots from a floral shop they are like a buck a piece.

things are a little more expensive here at this college town. anyways out of my five original two died and the rest of the three are ok.

How are they diein? Are you sure its nutes or to small of pots? gimme some pics they worth 1000 words.

:O you put the 400 back on them? madness. They look pretty dry too give them some water they be thirsty. Top 2 in your pics just look rotted/cooked but the rest have a chance. The ones I germinated the night I told you infant in a tanning bed are larger than that already and I still just have them sitting under 2 13w cfls till they get the 3rd set of leaves then im trying a hps the whole grow for 2 ofem and 4 100w cfls for the other 4 I got going. Ill see if I can pick up a cheap digicam tomorrow or ill drag my webcam in there and show you how im doing it. Another thing is those pots themselves will suck the moisture out of the soil so you need to water them more often. Get some 2 liter bottles and cut the tops off and push them all the way over those pots for some more humidity.

what do you mean by topping the 2? i already transferred them to the bigger pots so the pots wont suck up the water as much. this is my first grow so im experiencing a lot of (hard earned) lessons.

My Setup as of today. My roomate put the plants waaaay to close to the lights and burned some. im hoping they will recover. comments please.

If you can get some in your area

Pro Mix Organic

$8 - $9 a bag

Probably have to get it from a greenhouse and call around to find it. Just ask if they carry "Pro Mix" and they will know what you are talking about. It works great and is what most greenhouses use to plant stuff in. If they don't have organic you can use the regular but will get better results with organic.
