my first grow, seeds germed, and sprouted, looks good, now what the hell do i do? Its an outdoor grow, i'm in the east and its been really nice. Heres what i've done so far. I mixed 1/3 back yard dirt, with 2/3 potting soil(dont know what kind), planted seeds two days ago, then put in dark place. Woke up this morning checked them to my surprise 3 in sprouts. Looking for a high yield outdoors so i put them outside in direct sunlight(its like 78-81 degrees nice breezy day and has been all week). I will bring them in the house at night until it really warms up at night. Now what the hell do i do now i'm a total noob i need assistance from now until harvest. Please, help a fellow herb brother out, I'll reward u guys with some pics along the way. Thx :blsmoke:

I get the feeling you know more than you think you do and you have to trust yourself a bit. You're off to a great start, really. You should have used better soil...but otherwise, you're doing fine.

Keep putting them outside during the day for all the sunlight they can get, and bringing them back in when it's not warm enough at night. That's a great way of doing it. Then once it is warm enough, just keep them outside for good. Keep watering them every 3(ish) days... you DO want the soil to dry out in between waterings so air can get to the roots. DO NOT WATER TOO OFTEN. Overwatering is the most common mistake.

Don't worry about nutes for a while (four weeks). What size pots are you using?

kilik, i think were on the same page. I knew nothing prior to finding this site, but, since my intro to riu i've been through every part of the growfaq. My issue is with actually applying the excellent information. Its like taking a chemistry class and reading books on a specific topic but, you can't actually know whats going to happen until you conduct some sort of lab. I hate trial and eeror

tip for rain/wind/outside early..take 2 liter coke bottles and cut the top off where it starts to curve up. remove wrapper to get clear bottle. flip over and make holes for air two inches down, plant your plants and cover w/the bottle burring it 3-4 inches into the soil. perfect mini grow house till your plants can fight those brutal winds and nasty rains...if you have frost problems cover with paper bag and blanket to keep warm.

fa sho, good looking on the tips. i got everything under control at the moment. Even though this is my first grow i'm already developing a method to my madness. I'm germing and planting seeds weekly to perfect my grow skillz. I do this for the rest of the month. I just had 1 sprout and if she continues at the rate she's going she will be a monster. Hope she's a she. One question i have for anyone though is how do i induce flowering for an outside grow? I want some of my plants to go the whole cycle and i want some to start flowering in about a month. I always hated waiting for Christmas.:blsmoke:

get some soil and put a light under it. if it's outdoors then dig a hole in the ground and put soil in. find a spot near good sunlight, away from people, and water.

okay jlover, i have potted plants but, i'm going to use the sun as my light source. How does putting a light underneath my plants induce flowering. What type of light, how many watts, for how long? Your post doesn't make since to me please, explain.

Um yea his post was gibberish. I get the feeling he was rather far from sober when posting. I think he meant put the plants under a light... which is irrelevant for you as an outdoor grower.

Inducing flowering outdoors is a bitch, and rarely worth the time and effort that it requires. You have to manually make the 12/12 cycle by covering the plants with garbage bags from 7 PM to 7 AM or whatever the appropriate times are. That means you have to go your grow site twice a day which is dangerous (a good way to get arrested) and a huge time commitment. Beyond that, no living thing really wants to be confined in a garbage bag, and I just can't imagine that they grow very well in that scenario. So my opinion is definitely to be patient and end up with a much better product, and more of it.

kilik, i feel you brother i'm from the city but, i recently did a little stretch and now i live in a rural area i have some woodsy land and have a good deal of privacy. I got some sativas growing i just don't want deer or rabbits fucking with mt shit. It's funny i might wake up early and go out to my car a big ass deer be looking at me like what the fuck you doing here you better get your ass back in the house.

Haha. Hey if it's private enough you could put a fence around it. Like green chicken wire so it doesn't stick out too much. But it's gotta be 7 ft high to truly keep the deer out. Deer can definitely be a bitch.... my town is infested with them so I'm pretty worried about them with my grow this summer.
