What do we have here?

I don't even consider their OF as a soil. It's more of a hot compost, whereas their HF is more soil-like.
It's a little hot for sure. FFOF is peat based, and HF is coco based though, and I just prefer to keep it peat based. Here's a pic of a couple Chem 91 clones I got a week and a half ago. Left in the 1 gal is fresh FFOF mixed with a little pumice and EWC, and on the right in the 3 gal is old FFOF I converted to no-till. The messed up leaves at the bottom were already there when I picked up the clones, and I just started training them so they aren't the prettiest yet, but they should look pretty different in a few weeks.

FFOF is hot. Just keep giving them plain water and they should be fine. My plants got a little burnt when I first put them in fresh FFOF. I've made my FFOF into a no-till living soil though now. They look great though even with a little burn. Nice job.
How do you do that? Can you share the recipe?

After 3 rounds in the same FFOF using organics only I finally mixed in a bunch of good stuff. I added pumice, lava rock, biochar, Build a Soil's Craft Blend, rice hulls, EWC, and some vermicompost. And the second batch I mixed up I also added some insect frass I had. I have a few worms from the vermicompost in there, but have another 2000 red wigglers coming soon to add. Here's a couple pics of my first batch of mixed soil at day 25. It's day 30 now, so hopefully they keep going strong. And I use rice hulls as a mulch, but haven't put any on my vegging plants yet.

I'm gonna reuse my soil as well. Does it matter if some of your plant roots are still in then soil that you reuse?

Funny, I actually just answered the same question for someone else, so I just copied it.

It's not ideal to have a lot of dead roots in the pot, but they will break down fairly quick if you have a healthy soil. I use Hygrozyme sometimes to help speed up that process, and it's better if you can let the pots or soil sit for a month or 2 before you use it again. After my first grow, I just reused the same pots and planted more. Then I let a few pots sit for a couple months and planted more. Worked out fine in my case. But I have turned my old FFOF into no-till living soil since then. I just don't want to have to keep buying soil or messing with it much.

Yeah I planned on putting all my old soil together with amendments and some fresh compost and letting it sit for a month.
