What does kush smell like?

I always hear ppl say "Oh its got a nice kush smell" What is a kush smell? It really bothers me how everyone is so obsessed with kush lol. I've handed a guy a bag that wasnt even kush and it had a nice "kush" smell. I'm growing some plants right now that are supposedly "kush" but i'm starting to have my doubts as my buds dont have a slight hint of purple. Kinda leads me to believe that someone told the guy i got the seeds from his weed had a nice "kush" smell.

There are many varieties of "kush" and they smell different. Not all are purple, not all smell earthy or lemony or whatever else. "Kush" roughly translates in my head now to "I need extra for this bag".
 
earthy. kinda like fresh mushrooms....
But most people would probaby say 'dirt'. It smells like really good, rich, organic dirt.
 
what kind of kush?
our og had that "drinking lemonade outside a gas station" smell, our friend's master kush is much flowerier.....
 
Most Kushes that I have smoked all taste different, but have some similarities.... Kush many times smells and tastes of a citrus/gasoline/menthol and once you have smelled it, you will know because it smells so different than other strains....

Too Funny, I literally have smoked hundreds of different kushe's and have never smelled one like mushrooms or dirt.... If your kush smells like dirt...Its not kush homie...its dirt weed...

Its supposedly purple kush, but i'm not sure now. It smells very...almost into an ammonia like smell, but not to strong and kinda sweet at the same time. I just want to pull all the nugs off and eat them all up....or smoke them...that works too

would you call the ammonia smell more on the "gasoline" side, or more on the "cat pee" end of things?
how far are you? a lot of purple colours don't come out until the latter half of flowering...... and it can help to push the cold temperature envelope a bit.
 
DSC01064.jpgI just went in and agitated a couple buds and took in a few good smells. Its really hard to explain. The smell is a very smooth sweet smell, with a slight hint of earthyness and also a hint of sweet cat urine...but not very strong just a hint. Heres a couple pics i just snapped. I will be 6 weeks into bloom on sunday

Master kush,purple kush has Earthy musky coffee like Smell.Og kush has a hint of citrus gasoline.Hindu kush has a hint of sweet smell and taste.
 
I didn't know what all the fuss was about with kush until I tried OG- which has a distinctive smell taste and high I really can't quite put into words :eyesmoke:
