What is a Thai Stick?

I see the term thrown around by the OG's, but I dont really understand what it is.

What is a thai stick? Why dont they still exist? When will a dispensary start labeling some gimmicky sticky icky as Thai Sticks and create an even larger divide between the new school and the old school?

My dad used to tell me about it when he was in the Vietnam war

Thai Stick was the traditional method of layering and binding cannabis bud around a stick or hemp stalk, treating it with hash oil and wrapping it in fan leaves to cure underground for a month or so. Developed in the northeast of Thailand where the climate is especially generous to growing weed.

Best i could find i thought ive heard of opium in or on some too,could be wrong

So it seems to be the first moon bar minus the kief?

Yep. No fan leaf wrapper and no hash oil. Just bud. Haven't seen one since the 70's. Once we left Vietnam they disappeared for the most part.

I believe the term shotgun also came to life there as well

They used the barrel

I just assumed they bundled/tied the buds all together to their own stems instead of bucking them off.

Nope. On a sliver of bamboo.

They were sticks with bud wrapped around it. From what I remember it seemed to have a hard coating. The only ones I had were gold colored. I can tell you that the high was great and made you laugh. I only had two of them. I think they cost 5$ in the late 70s.
