What is everyone's preferred method against PM?

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Look for the cause rather than treating the symptom.

Aside from changing the environmental condition, I've found burning sulfur in the flowering room during the first week of flowering is a good prophalatic measure if you have not been completly succesful at changing environment.

It seems that there are a lot of Pro's here, so I am hoping to have my question answered by someone that actually knows what they are talking abut....................yes you guys.

I am very new at this. This this is the 1st time I ran in to the Powdery Mildew Problem. 1 of 3 clones had Powdery Mildew. I did not notice it until it started to spread. Since I knew nothing about Powdery Mildew, I thought it was just dust. Well to make the long story short, all plants seem to be infected and I am doing everything possible to safe the plants.

As of yet, the buds don't seem to have any impact. Only leaves. And even-though the plants have not been effected and growing and flowering just a healthy plant would, I am afraid my buds may not be safe to smoke, as I was told that Mildew could cause lung infection. I saw a video of a guy dipping cut down plants in to peroxide water mix. Does anyone know if I do the same process that buds would be OK to smoke. Or should I just bit the bullet now and kill the plants. I am about 30 days or less from harvesting, but my concern is safety.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Do not even think about smoking that shit, even after dipping it in solution. I've seen a relative die from aspergillis, a fungus that took over the lungs and completly destroyed lung function. It is not worth the risk.

Thank you, in the back of my mind I was saying to myself "I know I wouldn't smoke it".......

I have been having really good luck with using Green Cure. Yes it does burn pistols in flower but using it on your clones and veg plants is a great way to protect future problems. I spray weekly until 2 weeks into flower.

Even-though other members on this board, said that powdery mildew would not cause harm to humans and that I should continue with the treatment; but I think I am going to play it safe and just kill the plants.

Thank you guys. I greatly appreciate the help.

I did the peroxide dip with my outdoor plant, I used food grade organic peroxide (I had to use way less it was such high percentage) We were sharing the plant 3 ways and the other 2 smoked the dipped buds, me I smoked a joint to try it, smoked absolutely fine, it was killer outdoor. But I still had my doubt so I made hash with the buds and it was WICKED . I am currently flowering a plant from that plant (I found a total of 5 seeds on the plant from a male they missed to identifie (there was only 3 plants :eyesmoke:) I was helping old folks that have never grown properly, let alone waiting for their buds to mature .

Anyway, I now believe the peroxide is pretty safe, Subcool seems to give high respect to jorge cervantes so that helps me trust Jorge haha. But for indoor buds, you would never need to get there (we had the pm on the sugar leaves too outside) indoor you should be able to control the environment if it gets so bad you are doing something wrong.

Milk! diluted at 10%...reapply every few days. Doesn't burn pistils...but smells milky haha. Everything else I know tends to burn the pistils...

Other than that I would say mix neem cake into your soil for a systemic defense...but at this point it's too late for this plant.

Serenade is also nice but smells like nasty feet - and burns pistils if you mix a bit too strong...

You could try spraying AACT on the leaves in hopes that the fungi and bacteria will outcompete the PM on the leaves...

How far into flower are you?

I was gonna say this! Iv used milk and aact on my veggies. I think they said milk works partly because of its high ph,,, apparently PM has allot of trouble growing in high ph environment, so Iv also tried spraying with high ph water.

I just thought of something..... WE all see and have been shown what his humidity and temp levels are when lights are on..........

What are your humidity levels and temperature levels when the lights are off?

Because once the lights go off, and the heat dissipates, I imagine the humidity goes up pretty dramatically. Which may be the reason you're having a hard time finding the "source" of the problem.

Let me ask, do you leave your fans running at night?

Not saying positively it will help, but it MIGHT help to leave them on, it MIGHT help alleviate higher humidity levels when the lights go off, lower the humidity enough to starve PM of the necessary moisture it needs to thrive.

my temps range from 79 max day, and 73 low night....fans and de-hum always on.....my problem is i had some PM on my outdoor crop, and i had to bring it into the building where my indoor is for processing, so i have spores in the building, my flower room is not a closed system and its ventilation is open to the rest of the building.......it is just one of those things that has to be respected daily, and adjusted to accordingly.....i am going with greencure, and plan to treat my vegging plants to help them build up systemic resistance. it is all part of being a farmer.

From their website:
Unlike harsh chemicals,
GreenCure's® Active Ingredient: Potassium Bicarbonate is a naturally occurring compound that is widely used in food and is an integral part of humans, animals, plants and virtually all living organisms. It is safer for the environment than other alternatives.

Sentence like this makes me hesitant to use on my organic medicine. I ll stick to the lemon.

I've gotta admit... PM defense is my ONLY deviation from organic gardening practices. I spray any clones I get from dispensaries ONLY ONE TIME with a product called Immunox Multi-Purpose Fungicide before they even get planted into soil. It's sold at Ace Hardware, legal in California, and approved for veggies (follow the instructions for powdery mildew on tomato plants). I have not seen PM in YEARS since adding this product to my program; before, I battled PM every grow, regardless of environmental conditions, and regardless of which organic "cure" I tried (and I tried them all, Green Cure, Serenade, milk, lemon, baking soda, alkaline water, neem, etc, etc).

PM is endemic here in the Bay Area, but I don't play that game anymore. I have very sensitive sinuses (even had to have surgery to fix them), so I just don't mess with PM.

One application to a clone that's only got 3-4 leaves, and no PM for the life of the plant. Simple as that.

Nugs - I sent you a message, but it isn't showing up in my "Sent Messages"... If it didn't show up, let me know.

Nugs, we're you able to get your PM issues under control with lemon juice, GC and or Seranade. Which do you feel worked best?
im asking because I'm noticing a few raised bumps on the tops of my leaves.

Presently I have been using GC and spraying every other week. Would love to hear your input. Care to share what you have learned?
