What is it?

I'm going to sound like a newbie, even though I"m not. I've been growing for roughly a year now. But Inside the Aerogarden near the filter there is a small circle dial with numbers 1-5. I have looked through my instruction booklet and it doesn't mention anything about it. Could someone tell me what it does, and what it should be set on?

its probably some kind of timer for the pump. probably different setings for different plants if i were to guess. I dont really know, just guessing
