What is the best affordable light set up?

Hey y’all,
I’m looking to start my first hydroponic grow and have been looking at a bunch of different LED set ups. I’m just going looking for something simple for a small grow box. I want to build my own light out of a few full spectrum LED bulbs. Any thoughts?

If you just want to build your own simple light i would suggest getting a couple of cob led chips and wire them up yourself. They only cost a few pounds / dollars each, attach them to a heat sink and maybe a fan and then you will be ready to go..... or just get a little $100 mars hydro led light

Strips and boards can be ran without heatsinks, and have an even spread. Cobs dont.
Dont get me wrong, i have used cobs for years and they grow plants fine. Just not the best use for them in a low height, tight cab.

Fair play, i suggested the Cobs because i have experience with them and op said they wanted a cheap grow/light.
I have not got experience with boards and strips so i could not comment in that way.
But i would say that cheap / low powerd cobs would be ok for a small space 50w chinese kind and can be kept quite close to a plant.... when i built my first one i thought a 50w Cob would be the dogs bolloc*s ..... until it was pretty much sitting on top of the plant. But if there is a better way then im all for that and im going to start researching aswell :bigjoint:

I did a micro grow light with 10 cree cxa 1507's. Around 7w per cob, much more forgiving in close quarters than a 50w single
