What is the best growing medium you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot?

Lowes special Blend!...spend some money on some good stuff at local Hydro store..Lowes will not give you what you need.

The best I've ever seen at those two places was Kellogg's "Patio Plus". It's not bad or pricey, at all, from what I hear. If I didn't mix my own soil - I would, at least, give it a try! Google it and see for yourself, all the good stuff they put in there!

Home Depot sells growers gold and Lakeland they are both made by sungro horticulture the same company that makes the sunshine mixes I have used both with good results both of them are peat coco perlite both have lime to buffer ph only the growers gold has mycorise the Lakeland is about $12 a for a bale and the growers gold is $10 for a 1.5 cu bag

Lowe's has a soil called Jungle-Gro that is completely acceptable for growing herb. It's only like $8 a bag, completely organic...

It could have more peat and more vermiculite or perlite in it. But for starters, I would highly recommend it.

I've used the MG Organic Growers Choice for several grows; it's good stuff but I always add amendments to it.

Psh.... The plain old white bag with the orange stripe on it. Forgot the company name but its ingredients are forest compost, mulch, and perlite. I mix that at 50/50 wih more perlite ( big green bag at Home Depot). I think I figured it out to less than a buck fifty to fill a 5 gallon pot with this soil mix. And my ladies love the shit.

Maybe your store does, mine sure doesn't!

Bummer. I have heard of people in Hawaii buying Pro Mix so I started thinking it was available everywhere. Maybe yours stocks Sunshine mix?

Ask your local greenhouses what they are using and if they might sell you some. I buy Pro Mix from a greenhouse when the stores run out of it. They buy more than they need to get a discount on it and don't mind selling some of it.

I'm fairly close to you, but all of the local Lowe's in my area have stopped carrying the organic version of Jungle Growth.
