This is yellow and red it is not brown.
Is it contamination?

Def contam...throw the jar out or boil the living hell out if it. Did you follow the tek exactly?

You can allways make another cake..can't make another you..when in doubt,toss it out...good luck!

I don't know much about growing mushrooms but I know that's not the mycelium you're looking. Throw it out, including the jar. Better safe than sorry.

Does yellow represent contamination on a brf cake? I have another cake it only has a yellow dot and the rest is white. Is this one ok to fruit?

There is no need to toss the jar.

Simply PC it or steam sterilize it for 60-90 mins and then toss out the contents.

Yes.

Usually anything but white is bad.

Thats not to say some contams are not white though.

But it sound like mycelium metabolites and not a contam but a pic would help.
