What Is Your Idea Of Freedom?

America.......land of the free! Right?

I was born and raised in America and I love this country and I will always live here, but recently I had a run in with the county I live in over a permit I was trying to obtain and it got me thinking. They always say this is a free country, but is it?

Is freedom simply the ability/privilege to drive down to the store at mid-night to buy more ciggs because you ran out?

I know laws are in place for a reason, but honestly, who are they to tell me I can't grow a certain plant for personal use? That is not freedom IMO.

I mean if I'm growing huge amounts of MJ and selling it, and not paying taxes the whole time I was making millions, I could understand the government or local law enforcement wanting to take action to stop it, but what about for personal use?

Is them coming in and raiding my house for 3 or 4 plants I'm growing for person use freedom?

The issue I had with the county was I was trying to get a permit to install a car lift in my garage. They denied my permit and told me I would have to apply for a business permit, that costed 100's more, and it raised my property taxes considerably. It's MY property....not the countys! I only want the lift to work on my own personal vehicles when they need it so who are they to tell me no?

I just wanted some opinions about this, because to me, it's total BS for both getting the permit for my lift or wanting to grow a few plants for my personal use.

What is your idea of true FREEDOM ?

Me and a bunch of my neighbors just had our property taxes raised, some as mush as 40%.

Pretty fucked up in a down economy and property values still falling.

I wanted to shoot someone in the face.

The ability to live without money is a pretty good start towards freedom in my books. These days you can't even live without being involved with paper "money". It's hard emnough just trying to live without a bank account, my employers will not pay or hire me unless i have a bank account. Fuck that i say, i'd rather go hungry.

And no, the concept of america being a land of freedom is bullshit. Looking at where you came from to what you've become has to be one of the more depressing stories ever told

...we are never truly free...

...the government says we have rights, we get choices, etc. but it's all a sham meant to confuse and manipulate the public....

You can barely drink water free nowadays,
And you quite often can't even drink it if you pay for it. Scotland just yesterday had a warning sent out saying don't drink the water, there's too much aluminium in it. LKast i checked there wasn't any quanitity of aluminium in H2O

The governemnts like to make us all think that we absolutely need them, but it's completely the other way around, they would be fucked if they didn't control everything in our lives. Just the concept of travellers freaks them the fuck out, they try and setup big camps and such for them to stay, no, they are travellers, they will stay whereever the fook their travels take them

Preach on brothas! Freedom is an illusion, and not even a cool David Blane illusion, more like a shitty carrot top one. You are free to do your best to fit in to this bleak society, contribute, & cause as little trouble as possible. Voting=good, right? Wrong. Same guy, different suit. Dem/Rep polarization doing anything to help people see more clearly? Hell no! Divide & concur. So make sure ya get out there & vote for your favorite party, and kick that other guy in the balls if ya see him. Fuck that guy who has slightly different ideas than me.

I used to love the idea of America. It's ideology, principles laid out in it's Constitution.

All a fucking farce now. Glad I never made it into the Marines. Crossed the border a long time ago, but immigration for a strong, healthy, smart ( and at the time drug free ) Canadian is damn near impossible....but any fucking grease ball can cross the Southern border, get his card, then ship his whole fucking family across.

Even the recruiter ...... the blackest of black dudes with the last name White....was visibly pissed off about the whole situation. He even went on a rant about how hard it is for him to recruit Canadians, but every fucking Mexican walk across and get suited and booted because their relative has a green card.

After taking a quick aptitude test, he wanted me to go thru Officer training in the Air Wing. But after he called several superiors WAY up the chain, he laid out what I needed to do to immigrate. It was possible, just way too much effort. I would have had to cross, and go to school, and a whole bunch of shit to work my way in.

I finally said fuck it.

Now.......I am SO GLAD I couldn't. I have no ill will to good upstanding people of any country.....but if America itself was a person, I wouldn't even piss on their teeth if they were on fire.

No I am NOT pissed about what happened with the recruiter....in fact super happy, because I wised up to how America's principles are lost in time. I truly hope Americans themselves make a change, and stop putting up with the bullshit agenda of big govt/corporate America.

That being said, I'm talkin shit, while my government rides the dick of your government. Fuck Stephen Harper....fuckin goof ball.
The ONLY good thing that shit head's govt. has done is put the kibosh on the CRTC trying to regulate bandwidth.

My idea of freedom is NOT being tied to the system, owing fuck all to NOBODY, and being able to do grow what ever the fuck I want.

My Idea of Freedom...

hmmmm...

I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly feel the urge to need to.

Thats my idea of freedom ~ also a movie quote

Freedom is doing what you want and when you want. Things like marriage get in the way. So to be free you need to be on your own, self reliant, not owing anything to nobody. Thats freedom

you want to know how free we are?

take a look at a school. there is the in crowd (certain looks and behaviour) and the outcrowd. most people are sorta inbetween.

thats life.

the top are free to do whatever fits into that image, the majority free to try to fit into that image and the rest free to do whatever they can get away with as long as they look moderately respectful in public(keep it on the hush hush)

funnily the bottom has greater freedom in truth. can be more themselves, though not to a really great extent.

in public we keep up an image, so we dont get thrown out in the cold (like the beggars that sure dont fit that image)

halleluja for freedom.

Freedom is, in a so-called 'civilized' society, simply an impossibility.
Freedom under government = oxymoron.
