What light should I use for a small grow tent?

I'm trying to get a small 2x2x4 (maybe a little bigger if I can) grow tent and I was planning on getting an LED panel but I have looked for awhile and I'm not sure what I need. Considering they mostly advertise much higher wattage than they actually use.

What do you want to spend on the light and what do you want to get out of the tent?
I'm probably willing to only spend about 100 on the light and I'm hoping to get just a consistent few ounces (more the better) so I can experience growing indoors and hopefully not have to buy weed.

At that price point and space, you will have to buy weed between harvests. It’s only going to yield a couple ounces with a light that you can afford. My advice is to look for the best light you can afford and try to save for it. You want some light penetration if you’re growing in a 2x2 that way you can get more budsites that won’t popcorn.

I run 4 300w blurple LED lights(under 100 a piece) in a 4x4, below the top colas there tends to be a good amount of larf. My advice is really get a good light and at least a 3x3 if you can’t run a veg tent

Would you still only grow 1 plant in a 3x3? How often do you harvest with your set up and what's your yield? Because honestly it doesnt make sense to cheap out if it makes a big difference considering how much I'm spending on weed.

You want to have a 2 tent perpetual grow so you can harvest every 2 months. With a 3x3 and a 2x2 veg tent you can grow anywhere from 10 oz to a pound (probably even more) every 2 months.

Without the veg tent youre looking at about a 3 1/2 months from seed to harvest if you don’t encounter any problems where the plant gets stunted and has been properly fed

If you don’t get a veg tent you can buy clones to cut down on your time in veg. If you don’t have access to clones you could run 2-4 plants in a 3x3 to speed up the time it takes to fill the tent.

I grew a single plant in a 4x4 with a 600w HPS, it's about 8 weeks of veg from clone, scrog is a must to hold up the weight at the end, unless you want to buy a ton of yoyo hangers.

So, yes, you can keep it 1 plant, if that's your cup of tea.

Kingbrite 120w LM301B 3000k comes out to around $115 shipped.

The 240w version comes out to around $150, you can dim it down and it will give better light coverage and at full power can cover a 2x4 if you decide to get a bigger tent. Worth the extra cost IMO.

mars is a waste compared to spiderfarmer imo. people with mars swear by them but I believe that's because they haven't upgraded yet lol. i have 2 mars blurples sitting in the same tent with a 480 quantum board and I can tell you the difference is night and day, I actually put the plants I want to grow slower or receive less light under them on purpose, such as seeds or clones! they do great for that scenario and will grow a nice nodey little veg plant! as for flower, shit starts to stretch and reach and its a very airy mess. wouldn't go blurple for flower. and for that matter your spending the same money on a spider for better diodes and a good driver, as compared to the mars with lesser items. I'm not gonna edit this I'm kinda busy, sorry for the typos

Yea and the only thing I didn't like about SF before is the dimmers were under the driver, so you had to unscrew it. That has changed. It has dimmer box next to the driver with it's own power switch. Dimmer is also labeled so there's no guessing on intensity.

HLG 135 or a 315 if you went with the 3 x 3 but I'd not be comfortable with anything less than 7 feet to handle the environmental needs..

I’m looking at HLG because of the guys on here. From what I read they have the Hlg 100 which would be good for a 2x2
That’s $150 for 95w. Okay for vegging a 2x2 but not great for flowering.

Might want to consider a HLG 96, has added reds/deep reds and can push double the wattage ~$63 after code RIU10.

Delta LNE-54V-185WDAA (needs external pot for dimming) is $20

OR

Delta LNE-54V-150WAAA (bit lower wattage but has internal pot for dimming) is $27

All said in done you have an HLG light with great spectrum that will kill a 2x2 for ~$100

The only thing is you can't dim that one. I have 3 of them and they're great, but it would be nice if you could dim them. You can dim all the others, even the 65's if you buy the dimmer separate.

I can't remember how close I've had the 100's to the canopy, but I want to say I got about 16" away.
