SOG it imo, just prune the lower branches, you can use those lower branches as clones for your next run.. if you top em in that tight of a space they will gain gerth but you will lose some light penetration since they will be in such close quarters... 400W in a tight space i'd stay focused on the canopy growth without cramping em..

best of luck and i'm sure that whatever you do you'll enjoy...

My first grow is posted in a thread above, I'm also using a 400w and wish I had LST'd rather then top and fim like I did. Granted I think I vegged too long I've seen some pretty amazing looking lst'd plants posted around here and is definitely my plan for next grow. Just my 2 cents as a new grower.

Hey all. Just wanted to update the thread, how are the babies looking??

So the bushy plant is FIM'ed and 4 plants are LST one is just normal grown.

Befor the lstIMG_0335 (2).jpgIMG_0349 (2).jpgAfter, you can see the bent plants clearly!

IMG_0344 (2).jpgJust a closer look.

IMG_0338 (2).jpgHere is the only FIM plant, very bushy.

So how many cola's will there be? Cuz it looks like 4...

Post some comment my friendly Jane's and Joe's!!!:weed:

If you want to LST, I recommend using a slightly bigger pot. All of the tops on the plant will want to develop equally--instead of just one big top--so they will need the extra root/res space. It looks like you are using one gallon pots, no?

I did an LST using a three-gallon bucket in a space that is 15"x15".

Here is another one of a white widow done in a 3-gallon bucket, in another 15"x15" space.

For my next grow I want to do a SOG using two-liter bottles... Throw like five or six clones in empty coke bottles, lollipop them and go for a half-ounce on each one.

3 galon grow bags, the two big plants will be put in into 5 galon bags(these 2 were transplanted way befor the others). As for the other ones they seem to be weaker. Big bud has it that 30% are monsters!

And good job on those plants. They have a wonderful set of colas with little buddies forming! How long in veg for the first plant?

Another quick question how much did the branches grow during flowering??
SOG thats the way ! Will look into this for sure. 2 liter bottles on a budget, using cfls or mh/hps? and what watts?

hahaha lots of Q's there

And
Thx for post!

looking good man. kudos for trying all the methods to just see for yourself how they work. When you FIM a plant, they tend to bush out like a mad man but it is really strain dependent. My Mangos like to be FIM'd, my trainwrecks on the other hand...they kind of turned into the psychotic meth head lunatic plants. EVERY single shoot took off and I mean every single one.

Have you thought about putting them in a SCROG? Just asking as your plant heights are going to be fairly uneven now, especially when you flip and they stretch. Would be a nice way to fill your entire closet and make a nice even plane of buds.

I start with clones, so the time I veg is depending really on height... But that first plant was vegged for two weeks. When I first potted it, it was 6" high and I started training immediately. During flower the tops were originally about 2 or 3 inches tall, but right now they are all at about 6 or 7... Some of them (the ones that were actually branches on their own before I LST'ed) ended up growing really tall, closer to ten inches. Again, when this happened I just spaced it out more.

For Veg I've been using different things... For the first plant I used CFLs... Four of them were 5000k and one was 2700k... All were 30 watt somethings (actual cfl wattage) and were rated at 2000 lumens each. For the White Widow I used the 150 watt HPS that I had in there (I didn't feel like rigging up all those cfls again). BUT, I went ahead and threw in a 40 watt 5000K cfl in there and stuck it close to the plants. This wasn't for the extra lumens at all, it was for the light spectrum that this bulb offered. The plant didn't really stretch (all the nodes were about an inch apart) during veg, but during the first week of flower it stretched considerably (more than an inch between nodes, some were two inches) so I'm not sure if it had to do with the HPS or Gentics. I would think genetics since the slight-over stretch happened during the flower. The only problem I had with running the HPS for veg were the temps. During the day they would reach 86 or 87, but at night would stay right around 78-80. I'm thinking of doing an 18/6 veg light schedule and timing the break for when the day is the hottest... before I ran them 24/7.

So for veg I've been experimenting with random lights I already have, trying different combos.
For Flower I use the 150 watt HPS that I have. During the first three weeks I leave a 5000k CFL in there for spectrum.

I expect to pull over an ounce--easy--with that first clone... Maybe even around an ounce and a half, but who knows. With the SOG in 2-liter bottles, I can probably get 2-3 ounces a grow, and might even be able to skip the veg phase since I get really, really developed clones (I'm running two right now that were ten inches tall when got them, 7 after I planted them in one-gallon pasta containers, and I threw them straight into flower... Just gave them 36 hours to chill in the dark. They look good right now!!! Although the extra time to root, I imagine, would have helped a bunch). After this I'm going to try a 10-day veg in 2-liters and see how it goes.

No topping was done. Figured that would really stun the plant, here are those pic's!

So first off while looking into the jungle EYE SPY!

IMG_0369.jpgLady BUG! It just showed up all on its own!

IMG_0363.jpgIMG_0367.jpgIn between the fan leave you can see the way the main cola has been bent, also notice the lower branches they have been exposed to the light!

IMG_0393.jpgThe FIM is great!IMG_0394.jpgLots of tops !

That is the most vigorus plant.

IMG_0382.jpgIMG_0392.jpgThe branches all have new foliage!!
