What size hempy bucket would you recommend for a 6 plant medical grow in a 4x4 tent w/ 600w HPS possibly to be supplemented by 256w of 4' T8's, 172cfm vortex? I'm thinking 5gal buckets, but not sure if maybe 3.5gal trash cans or maybe even 10gal totes might be better?
I've had a lot of luck with 4-6(hoping for 1/2 females) bagseed plants (stretchy, mexi sativa) in a 10gal sterlite tote, 100% perlite in a 23"x17"x54" cab w/ panasonic 80 cfm bath fan and 150w HPS in one end a closet, GH lucas formula w/ tap water, but always seemed to get some tip burn, which I attributed to high cab temps (mid to upper 80's) and low RH causing the plant to draw up so much water and therefore nutes? I've seen tip burn even in some pros pics however, so maybe this is common? I tried feed, feed, water, but had worse problems than always feeding. I also always seemed to get some yellowing from the bottom up but have read that's normal in late flower? Should I stick with the lucas formula and 100% perlite? I've been reading about the useless formula, and rez 6/9 formula, and also about coco as a better medium... and I'd like to try DWC or ebb 'n flow now that I'm in a legit setup and locale, but my brain says "go with what you know" which is hempy and GH lucas?

all i can say on the matter is search for a dude named flowamasta he is the hempy king and has the same size tent and a 600w light follow his lead and you will do well.
he only does 1 plant at a time but pulls 1.5 pound pretty consistently

I grew these out in folgers coffee cans.SAM_0315.jpgSAM_0313.jpgSAM_0311.jpgSAM_0224.jpg

Granted they were small and I only used a 250w hps, but hempy doesnt seem to need as large a bucket size as other techniques in my experience. I would go with the 3 gallon and if worse comes to worse you could simply bog them into 5 gallons if needed.

I say stick w/ hempy this grow but start researching hydro if you're interested. I did hempy before hydro and I still think it's a great way to learn. If you're gonna have 6 plants in there, I'd suggest 3.5 Gal. pots. Anything bigger might get a bit crowded later in bloom. Either way your yield won't be determined by the number of plants, but how well you maintain an even canopy and utilize the maximum amount of light.

Start thinking about LST or a screen to keep your canopy nice and flat.

Go with something in the 3 gal range. 5's are just a little too tall I've found. I work with a 4x4 area & have tried to get as many plants as possible in there. After 3 yrs in the space I've found 3 or 4 buckets yield the most.

If you want to simplify your hempy feeding, and not have to worry about under or overfeeding, then I'd recommend using Oscomocote + (controlled release fertz) 4 tbsp's sprinkled in the perlite above the hole. And just water with ph adjusted water (5.8-6.0)
Cost/plant/grow = $0.60
