What stage am I in? and other needed advice!

I planted these seeds on Aug 23rd 2010, so they are 2 weeks and 4 days old, today. I was reading that when the first pair of leaves come out after the cotyledons, it leaves germination stage and starts seedling stage. Then seedling stage takes about 3 weeks? Here's where my problem is... These plants DO NOT look like seedlings :hump: Would you say I'm into veg stage now, at only just over 2 weeks old? How many weeks from now, (or when/if I hit veg some time ago) will I be seeing signs of sex? I'm pretty sure it's way too early to tell what sex though.

Also, anyone know if lightly misting my plants during light hours is ok? I heard it can burn leaves but I'm only running a 2ft 4 bulb T5 HO with all 6500k bulbs, 10k lumens I believe. Kind of a weak light so I figured it might be alright (I have a humidifier because of RH / heat issues ) I run temps around 70-75 during dark hours and 76-85 during light hours, and RH always above 50% (60-65% when the humidifier gets pumping)

All very noob questions, but any advice is welcome +rep for non-jackass answers :peace:

the germination/seedling stage is pretty much the same thing, yes they are seedlings and yes you are in veg. do you understand what i mean? they are still very young plants and they are in the vegitative state. as for sex its a toss up, you may see signs of preflower, but it is hard to judge sex off of those. you will normaly know sex within the 1st 2 weeks of flower. misting is ok just watch for mold issuses with rh in the 60-65 range, see how the plant responds. its your call on how long to veg for, some wait a set time like 4 week veg, others look for alternating nodes which is the sign of sexual maturity.

I wait til mine is at least 12 inches tall or the alternating nodes. But depends on how much money I have. haha. Sometimes I just flower from seed like I'm doing right now to save money on the electric bill.

Very good to know =] and yes I do know what you mean. They are still considered seedling just because they are so young but they are vegging right now. I have a feeling the bigger one (about 2-3" taller than the other) will be a male. I REALLY HOPE IT'S FEMALE but it just seems like a more hardy plant, quick growing and dominate. I guess we'll just have to see!

Yeah I do have space issues so I won't let them get too big before flowering. I may also top them and use a bit of LST. I'll have 2 CFLs on the sides and I'll try and open up their middles with LST to shine a little light to the lower undergrowth.

BTW, can you explain what "Alternating nodes" means / what to look for?

you see how yours has two sets coming out directly across form one another, when they reach maturity they will alternate. so instead of being a set every node it will be either a left or a right

see how the one branch is higher on the stem, this is alternating nodes.

Ok I understand now, that makes perfect sense. I'll be on the lookout for that. Only problem is I have 2 plants growing in a 3' wide x 3.5' tall x 2' deep, so I may for to switch over at the first sight of preflowers if that comes first. When I go get a smaller humidifier and a clip-on fan I'll have a lot more real estate to work with.
