What the Funk?

Larry Graham invented the slap bass technique that became iconic to funk. He was playing in a duo with his mom, who was a talented musician, at the time and in the absence of a drummer Larry started slapping and plucking to emulate drum sounds. Larry brought this new sound to the masses while playing for Sly Stone. Bootsy Collins, Flea, Les Claypool and many others built off of Larry's innovative bass technique.

I heard a song on the radio yesterday that was funk, but I didn't get the name. It started off talking. Something about, "how did P come? In quarters, halves and three quarters. No, I'm going to need the full P."

I searched but couldn't find it. So if any of you guys know it. . . .

Man, I'm drawing a blank. Is this a newer song or old school funk?

Not sure. It was on the local college station. They play lots of funk during the day. They are mostly a jazz channel at night. But it sounded kind of like how P Funk talk at the beginning of songs. Google is not worth it's salt when it comes to stuff like this.
