What Was Your First Strain...?

Nirvana Aurora Indica (see my first journal in my sig below). It was easy to grow, simple to clone and pretty average smoke. But it worked. My Pre 98 Bubba Kush is much better genetics and not much harder to grow though it is more sensitive to nutrients, so you use less, which is nice.

Dutch Passion Skunk 1. My dumb ass was on overgrow at the time. For some unknown reason, i purchased a nft hydro system called "ezhydrokit". 400mh/hps set up in a closet vented thru attic with no carbon filter. With out getting to detailed, I screwed it up. Big time. Harvested 2 seeded plants way too early. Could smell skunk when I pulled up in the driveway! It did have a smell to it. Got about 2 oz's off it. Did not have any patience! First few grows i followed the flowering time on the package to the note. 8 weeks on the mark, shit came down. Did not know what a trichome was! Tried to judge from looking at percentage of red hairs.

But it was an experience I will treasure, because I can look back on that grow and every other grow Ive done since and use as learning tools of what not to do.

My first grow was nirvana’s afghani and misty

I was scrogging in a cabinet. Did not do very well with my first scrogging attempt on the Misty for sure. She grew up into the 150 hps and I had to supercrop big time to keep her from

I soon learned to scrog all through the stretch and things improved. Here’s my 2nd grow of bogglegum and juicy fruit.

1st grow success was CSI Bubblegum S1 and JD Short Azure Haze; both indoors (1st indoor attempt).

That came after multiple failed outdoor attempts.....most notably 2 failed bagseed attempts.....the bag seed was from an early 2000s Sativa Blueberry....and 2006 NYC Piff.....the piff was very vigorous early in veg....grew 6 inches in 2 days....but when I went to check on her; a horse had literally stepped on her....there was a horseshoe print where she used to be.

The blueberry suffered a similar fate; as rodents/deer destroyed her....this was in the days of illegal outdoor where you may not be able to check in on the plants for days.

It's still that way where I live.

That was 12/13 years ago and I still use that same bucket the timer is on and have the same pots and trays

1972. Oaxacan. Didnt finish. My mother found it in the back yard, and pulled it up. It was 6ft tall. Had 13 fingers on the leaves. The stuff it came from, was the stuff that killed Elvis. Top 3 strains ever. Only stuff that ever gave me auditory hallucinations. $20-oz. $40 a 1/4lb. And $140lb. Full of seeds, and had a 5-6 hour high. Heavy crash. Felt like you were drunk. Usually after a couple/few hours, youd hit the fridge, eat everything in it, go to sleep 3 hours, wake up still ripped, hit the fridge again, and then smoke some more. Not to mention, it would literally look like your eyes were bleeding.
Todays weed doesnt make my eyes nearly as red. Not even close.

Pine Tar Kush. My friend had gotten the seeds from Tom Hill over 20 years ago. I had given up on the seedlings, but 1 out of 6 popped after 10 days so I eventually put it in the ground outdoors. It made a beautiful 7 ft plant that finished in late Sept., probably got about 2 lbs of super piney, sticky, really good bud!

Technically Master Kush, but that was under someone else.

White widdow and blueberry from seedsman.

The widdow was pretty good, the blueberry is the worst shit I have smoked in my life. Full disclosure, I fed them full strength from flip and hit them with 640 watts at 12-18 inches after like 2 weeks in 12/12. As you can see below, the results were far from ideal. They were freebies, and I got alot of bud, but I've come very far in the last 3 years.

My first strain was M-39 clones from Montreal back in 2001.

Snow White from Nirvana. Very sweet lemon smell and active high.
Strain got lost few years back, but I gave it to a friend then and now got it back. Gonna try it out soon with refined growing skills.

My first strain was unknown bag seed. My friends and myself really enjoyed it. After that I've been growing ever since. I dropped my first seed in 2007 and will continue to grow for many more years

In 2012 I apprenticed on a blackmarket grow site running strawberry cough over the course of a year we ran though every issue imaginable . Last September I bought my set up from a "consultant" it came with 4 started autos 2 Hindu kush 1 pineapple express and 1 kosher cake. The first plant I grew myself from seed was 5OGs from captian red beard, it like everything I've grown from him was extremely easy to care for and tolerant of newbies. Still the most potent strain and enjoyable high I've grown so far. Almost everything I've grow from other breeders I've had some kind of issue with.

Like many i started with bag seed. First real grow i did(where i bought dirt and amended it with gusno and castings and emulsion, kelp, etc) i boutght seeds from emery seeds and i got blueberry from dj short, peak 19 from sagarmartha seeds, and early misty from nirvana, as well as growing some seeds of a pure sative gifted to me from a indoor grower. Super fire year and what really got me hooked. I had a pheno of that peak 18 that smelled like literal dog shit, just a loud rank cheesy nasty funk, but was some of the best tasting weed. i grew these with a good friend outdoors that year. it was something ill never forget

The first plants I grew were working for someone else and sfv og were the first plant I ever potted up. We did those in light dep with a few other ogs, thin mint gsc, and sour d. We probably grew 20 other flavors that year, and I was lucky to be around these plants and learn from who I did

I grew bag seed first like many. My first purchased strain was Critical Mass from Mr.Nice

Grew Mexican seeds until I met some growers who brought back seeds from Amsterdam.
They gave me white rhino and bubbleberry.
Same year Marc Emory started his seed catalog and I bought Misty from Nirvana.
Next purchase was Dr Greenthumbs indoor mix.

White Rhino x Great White Shark (or the other way around) my buddy made them circa 2001. Successful 2x2 ebb and flow table yielding 4 ounces

I cut my teeth on old skool greenhouse white widow i let two of em get too tall like 7 and 8 foot it was ridiculous alas lesson learned about height control i also had to temporarily take em out and hide em outside in a van for a housing inspection till thats done then bring em back in here aint legal i just very lucky none of the nosey cunts in the street clocked on that was some scary shit never again lol

First plant I grew was a Dark Devil Autoflower. I had a 150w HPS that I rigged up inside two Rubbermaid bins. The only way to make it work was to do the grow outside in the garage during the fall when temps were low so the box didn't overheat. I got a nice yield and really nice buds considering how shit it was done.
