hi im from australia , just trying to work out what sort of water do i get from the supermarket ? it cant be softened and most the water bottles here have chloride in them for our teeth , any ideas?
Tap water should work fine. Even chlorinated water is ok, the chlorine evaporates out in 15 minutes of sitting around. Flouride will not really hurt the plants, just make them be more susceptible to mind control through television
The best water to use is either reverse osmosis or distilled. You can do both at your own home with the right equipment. I have used RO in the past, but now just use tap water.
Because Fish Aquarium owners let there water sit out for 24 hours just to make sure there is no trace of chlorine since it will combine with fish excretions and cause a nasty fish killing disease. As long as you have lots of the water exposed to air in a large container it should evaporate very quickly. Now if its all sitting in a huge bottle with a small opening to pour out the water its obviously going to take longer. So just as a general rule of thumb, 24 hours should be plenty of time for any amount of water in any open container to readily evaporate all the chlorine out.
Another reason to let your water sit around overnight is also to lets its temperature stabilize so that the colder/warmer water does not shock your plants.
A decent faucet type water filter should be able to remove all the chlorine from the water as it comes out of the tap, but if you don't have one, just put the water in a large open container ( Like a storage tub) and the chlorine will be gone very quickly.
Get it from your faucet, and let it sit in your grow-room for 24-hours. This distills the water, and makes the water the same temp. as your plants, causing even less stress.
Lots of opinions. Mine is start with RO water, if it is chlorinated let it sit overnight and cover the opening with something air can pass through but any foreign matter can't.
