Triple, double. Why avoid the others when you can pull great weight with them at a low price? Do you have any grows where you did a side by side with both systems? How much more are we talking here? I'm doing great with hid hps and even got a couple of those blurples viparspectra for veg and am loving them. The whole puttting it together really puts me off cob. I would recommend the vipar spectra for any beginner!
I've run HPS, MH, 860W CDM Allstart lamps, 315W CMH lights on LFSW ballasts, yadda yadda, all on the same setup so results can be compared. LED really is better.

COB LED is the best beginner's light, ever.

Kind off struggling to see how leds are going to move forward as well, the obvious problems with larger watt leds have left the market with 3 and 5 watt leds for sometime now. You can tech and tune theseall you want but sooner or later some major breakthrough is needed or i see little future for them as well. Quite a few see that leds have hit a bit of a wall and10watt leds arent as efficient.

Maybe they do have something for the future but i struggle to reference any science that will allow it yet.

Every COD light i can find seems to cost over 1000 dollars. Right now im using about 40 dollars in CFL bulbs and only get about 1oz a plant. I dont know if i wanna spend over 1k on a light.

Im not sure what im looking and would rather you tell me than having to google it if thats ok :-)

I would have thought the future of leds would be larger wattage diodes with the efficiency of the present day 3w diodes. Cobs or chips do help with efficiency but a large complaint is their lack of punch, dosent rival a single point light source yet.

The cost or money saved has never been a large issue, some of you guys with legal states and the way things are have much bigger grow areas than me so things are multiplied.

As always rollitup never ceases to amaze me just how much cool shit peeps do, if someone says its not possible someone else finds a way. Well done for trying stuff out and expanding the possible.

Looking at all the kits on amazon around 500-600 watts, that come with both kind of bulbs.

There are to many to choose from and i was wondering which brand is good.

Just want one that would work as advertised and last awhile.

There are a lot of factors when deciding between HID or LED.. You honestly can't do better than a well built COB, but HID is sooo much cheaper. For $600 you can light up a 3x3 with top of the line Cobs. For $100 on Craigslist you can get a 600w HPS with hood.. (This will produce a lot of heat though and it has to be vented somewhere.)

What size space are you trying to illuminate?
What's the height?
How much weight would you care to produce?
What strains are you considering?
What grow method? LST, SOG, SCROG, VERT etc? Soil or hydro?
Is this a tent?
Do you live in a home or an apartment?
Does it need to be stealth?
What are your normal indoor and outdoor temps?
Do you have somewhere to vent heat to?
Do you live in a legal country/state?

This is a good cob light for under $600.. That's plennnty of light for 3x3.
