what would be the best light setup for a scrog grow?

Ok I plan on a small scrog type of grow. Here are my ideas, so which is better for the money and yield? I am thinking of a 1 plant scrog inside a 2x2x6 grow tent with a 250watt mh/hps grow light. Or scrog 2 plants in a 4x2x5 tent with a 4ft x 8bulb T5 grow light. I think the T5 would cover the entire canopy and I could place just a few inches away. I also know hps would give better buds from what I have read. So too all of you out there. what would be best?

Keep in mind that HPS gives you about 130 lumen per watt while very efficient (and expensive) T5 pushes perhaps 90 lm/w. Ordinary cheap tubes or CFL-s might give you about 60 or so. Always remember that power consumption is just a convinient way for comparing lights of the same type (and efficiency), but if you want to compare different lights, you'll have to compare their total light output.

Anyway, if you are saving on the lights in order to afford a tent, my advice would be to go DIY instead and spend the money you've saved on good lights.

hps over t5s any day. The hps will give off a lot more heat witch has to be controlled via cool tube/exhaust fan, especially in a small tent. if you can control the heat go with hps.

I have used a Quantum Bad Boy 4ft @ 8 bulb for a couple years in 2 x 4 tent.

The strain I am growing has really long main and secondary branching. I was forced to snap branches to fit

This grow I am scrogging, but started late. It is def the way to increase yield as it keeps more buds withing the output sweet spot

The problem: bulbs don't last beyond 2 grows, and often one. Worse, there is no way to tell how many lumens are lost without an expensive lumen meter, and good bulbs are >$20. What to do? LEDs. Check out A 51 for a quality panel without breaking the bank. If you can afford a Bentley then Apache Tech. IndaGro EDFL is another quality alternative. You will pay more upfront for LEDs/EDFLs but you will recoup the expense in a few short years

How much bud do you want/need?

~220w LEDs. Probably end up with 4 ozs

I agree with flora led would be perfect if you can spend money. Of course I prefer hid over t5 but sorry widow a 250 falls into the sissy category as well. Lol. If you said 400 then I would have said hid/hps. I have seen good grows with both. Also if your talking yield and area 2x4 is should be better than 2x2. I now run a tent that is 2x3x5 with Area 51 led. Prior had a 400 in a 2x4x8 area.
